What's going on with Trump..
He’s been caught and he knows it. Mainline conservatives can stomach many bad things, but they cannot stomach Russia. That, combined with a lot of recent negative news for Trump, ensures that a full investigation will occur, and because of that, he now knows it’s a near certainty that he will be exposed. In the meantime he’s been preparing for a “grand deception” of his base to win the upcoming fight to preserve his freedom (yes….his freedom). As things have gotten worse, so has the frantic nature of those efforts. The mechanisms of the “grand deception” are:
Lying: He knows he is lying. He knows that any person with a bit of common sense knows he is lying. But his lying is aimed at his base. Incrementally, he is prepping his followers to believe the upcoming lies he will tell to preserve his freedom. To the press: “No, he’s not delusional. He is purposely lying because he’s been caught committing crimes and he’s desperate. Don’t you think he knows that Obama did not have him taped, his electoral vote tally was average at best, that it rained during his inaugural speech, and that his inauguration crowds were much smaller than Obama’s? As Obama would say….”Come on, man…..”
Kill the credibility of the press/prevent it from being able to fully report on events: His base must not believe the actual truth, but instead, they must believe HIS “truth”.
Destroy the belief in our judicial system so actions that may be taken against him aren’t supported.
Weaken/damage the credibility of the FBI and CIA, and decimate the State Department: They are the three main evidence gatherers and exposers of reality and truth. Trump does not want them to be believed. Part of this effort is the appointment of “Trumpist” ideologues as US attorneys, making it hard for the FBI to do its job (which constitutes obstruction of justice with plausible deniability). Plus, decimating the State Department will make it easier for Trump to follow Putin’s dictates, if Trump retains his power.
Blame Obama and the traitors who populate his “Deep State”: To his followers, Trump will soon say ”Who do you believe is the traitor, me or Obama?”
As for Comey…..Comey wants things kept quiet until he is set to drop the hammer. I believe that the actions of Comey earlier this year were a result of mismanagement and not a desire on his part to take sides. I think the mismanagement stemmed from his failure to root out and discipline a dissident group of FBI agents in New York who put him in a can't win situation: They were going to blow the lid off the story, and he had to do what he could to mitigate damage as much as possible.
I think that Comey realizes that his earlier actions have diminished his reputation considerably, and I believe that Comey is desperate to handle this investigation in a correct manner to clear his name as much as he can. The almost anguished reactions of members of Congress who have heard his reports have been telling. He’s not covering things up.
Explosive moments are on the horizon: Arrests, impeachment(s), and possible civil unrest by Trump supporters purposely engineered by the Trumpists. Snap on your chin straps……it’s going to be a wild one! And that’s without even pondering a possible Pence ascension and/or impeachment.
