Rachel Maddow says Trump is a massive failure: Nothing they like to brag about actually succeeded

NBC host Rachel Maddow on Sunday argued that President Donald Trump’s administration had failed at everything “they like to brag about.”

“If you just look at what they’ve done in terms of policy,” Maddow said on Al Sharpton’s MSNBC program, “it’s interesting they haven’t been able to do anything successfully on any of the stuff they like to brag about, they like to talk about, that he campaigned on. [The] Muslim ban has been a disaster.”

She pointed out that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) recently admitted that Mexico was never going to pay for Trump’s border wall.

“The health care roll-out is an absolute disaster,” Maddow continued. “Politically, it’s absolutely dead. I don’t think anybody believes it will ever pass the Senate. They never tried anything on taxes. Remember, they were going to do a trillion dollar infrastructure plan. Nothing that they like to talk about, nothing they like to brag about, none of their big stuff is working or, in many cases, they’re not even trying to make it work.”

Ways to get his supporters to finally reject him. I think the other one was to show he was very dishonest. But he seems to be almost teflon on that issue.
But yeah, he desperately needs to paint himself as winning.

but presenting him as a failure might work. Plus, it sets him off, and he goes on those tweeting rages, some of which haven't served him so well. Smart, RM.

That was their plan all along.

I ask my republican acquaintances, "Why do you vote for people who hate government? If I was interviewing for a job at your company & I told you I hate your company & I want to tear it down & destroy it, would you hire me? Hell no! So why do you vote for people who hate government & want to tear it down?" Invariably, the answer is, "I want less government, not zero government." Then I ask them, "What the hell did you think drowning it in the bathtub meant?" And at that point I cut myself off cuz I want to add, "You stupid piece of shit."

If the issue isn't just low information voters wanting limited government but also an excuse for being lazy citizens. We are the government unless we don't believe in being civic minded, accepting civic duty becomes a bother left for others. The not my problem form of governance. I don't know. I don't work that way. To me either we are the government or chaos.

He talks about how after WWII Madison Avenue created the Jones' - the mythical family that everyone tried to keep up with. He said that Americans traded in their citizenship to become consumers. That phrase always resonated with me cuz it's so apt. Shortly after i read the book I decided to declutter my entire house. It took the summer & the three thrift shops that I took my stuff to were always happy to see me. Let me tell you, that was a liberating feeling! I need to do it again, as I have a lot of my mother's stuff after she died & for a while I wasn't ready to let it go. But now I am.

IMO, the David Horsey cartoons are worth the price of the book!

in breaking apart our govt. The rest is busy work designed to keep everyone distracted. What is going to happen to the money that would have gone to all the depts? These people could care less if you drive on a road, bridge, that is dangerous, if you have health coverage, etc...They proposed slashing the budget to HUD by billions, BILLIONS. Where is the money going???

He nominated a RW Supreme Court judge who will get confirmed.

He approved the Dakota and Keystone pipeline projects.

He canceled the transgender bathroom order (sending it back to states).

He has basically ended sanctuary cities (by ending all federal funding to them).

Sadly, he is well on his way in terms of enacting his regressive right-wing policy agenda.

Gets some of the other right. Still, he is incompetent. If we are going to turn his troops agaist him, they don't care about his dishonesty. Many of them yuk it up like they are watching their own version of SNL.
They do care if the Dems show him to be a loser.

better spent elsewhere. Plus, the odds are YUGE that DT will get someone worse. This guy was the best of the worst. Unless there is something about this guy that will change 3 Senate Repub votes, which also assumes all Dems voting against him, we lose. Basic arithmetic.

Sometimes it's good to screech and moan for a lost cause, but this time, it is a waste, unless something comes out that we don't know yet, IMHO.

Is that they'll never, under any circumstances, admit that anything we do is a success because that's what AM hate radio has done to us. Literally all of the divisiveness is coming from AM hate radio. And now that's morphed into conspiracy theory radio, and that's what gave us Trump. Conspiracy theories never favor us and it's designed that way. And they'll never admit their failures thanks to AM hate radio and their divisiveness. They'll just blame it on us.

told me 15 or 20 years ago, we were in trouble on that one. He said RW hate was the only radio he could get traveling in rural areas, at least back then, and it was what the locals listened to, gospel for them. It is much worse now. Then, it was Hateful Rush and Hannity.

Al Gore tried to do something similar for the left, but it was TV focused also. Anyway, it didn't work. There is some left radio, but there isn't the widespread geographic coverage. Some of it is too far left. They think NPR is socialist, plus it isn't everywhere.
