Rep. Steve King: Republican Racist

Republican congressman Steve King from Iowa is one of the worst racists in congress. Many people would call him a grotesque piece of pig shit, but I won't sink to the depth of calling him that here on DU.

Nonetheless, for anyone who still holds the fantasy that the Republican congress is not filled with racist trash, please pay attention to Steve King and other Republicans like him. And let's not forget our (ex?)racist Attorney General, Jeff Sessions.

Welcome to Trump's "New Normal, New Reality."

Today people are apparently finding out and being terribly surprised that Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is a white nationalist and racist and has been that more or less openly for years. Before yesterday's paean to "culture and demographics", Steve King was saying that for every Dreamer who's a valedictorian there are a hundred running drugs. The list of similar statements is all but endless.

We've been on the King beat for years. You can go through our archives and find dozens of offensive, stupid and frequently outright racist comments from King. But there's something more specific about King. King frequently speaks in the language of white nationalists and neo-Nazis who speak of "white genocide" and America being overrun by non-whites.

So that, the next time the Repigs try to hide behind Jesus, or "saving babies" for their pro-life stances, the public will be exposed to the *real* motives behind their dogma.

unless there was a constituency for his brand of bigotry. People like him are by and large reflections of the segment of society that believes their demographic to be superior to all others.

"Good Germans."

(For those who don't know, the term "Good Germans" refers to those who went along with Hitler. It has nothing to do with today's German population. Angela Merkel is one of the most progressive leaders in Europe. And most of today's Germans back her.)

She must be relieved. They're talking about him on Lawrence O'Donnell's show right now, including making the nazi comparisons.
