Heaviest snowfall shifting to the north; we're only getting 3-6" now.

(51,076 posts)its when its freezing rain and sleet that the shit happens. Power lines come down, cars pile up on the freeways and on and on. In snow its possible to drive, Ice not so much. Hell on ice I can't even make it to my mail box let alone drive anywhere. snow though is no problem as long as its not knee high to a tall basketball player that is.

(2,297 posts)Unusual at any time, let alone rush hour. Assume ice.
Almost a white out. Cannot tell how hard it's snowing because of the winds blowing it all around I will say this much though. The plows keep coming down our road.
The Ski Resorts here must be loving this.

(I'm in south Texas, but you get the idea)
When I lived in WI, we had the opposite: snow when it was above freezing.

(24,259 posts)Shifting to the north means we'll be getting more so when I saw this I went and checked our weather... Overnight we went from 3" to 6" predicted to 12" to 20" and now have a blizzard warning.
:sigh: I knew something was off when I kept hearing the plows go by more often and so much earlier than I was expecting for this but I was hoping it was their normal over abundance of caution. At least they're really good up here and hubby has a working snowblower finally.
On the plus side we're ready to stay put for a few days... I'm just hoping the power stays on.
