I thought they might have tried to go the "it's fake!" route.

I can understand privacy laws possibly giving some protection but for how long or where these released by Trump for some reason years ago so they're legally already out there?

that would be illegal.

I don't believe it's illegal for a reporter to publish or release them once they have them. But if someone in the government released them to the reporter, that person broke the law.

To report on whatever she gets from a source but it sure sounds like they're trying to make it seem like it is.

I'm wondering if the person who got them actually did something illegal or if after a certain amount of time tax returns can be requested under something like the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA).

I'm sorry if I'm not clear. I'm up before dawn so am normally off to bed by now but want to see what Rachel has.

I'm not a tax or other type of lawyer so I'm unsure what the exact laws are on such things. That's why I ask, to learn.

Even when the government provides it for legal purposes to trustees/bks can disclose it to outsiders.

not release it. That includes federal, state and local officials.

I suppose someone from the accountant's office could have leaked it.

...something damaging to them.

This response is bulllshit. There's nothing illegal in reporting this. There ARE real issues related to and behind this return.

All of the Rachel bashing here over this is giving credence to their transparent attempt to change the subject.

18. Trump Had No Problem With Law Breaking During Election

Donald Trump did not have a problem with law breaking when people were hacking the DNC's computers. As someone on twitter said, if you do not want people exposing your corruption don't be corrupt. If Trump does not want people releasing and talking about his tax returns without his permission he should just release his tax returns.

Trump said that President Obama must be hiding something if he does not want to release his birth certificate. Well, what is Trump hiding by not releasing his tax returns?
