Its Getting Frosty and I Dont Mean the Weather
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying watching the TV news today, and seeing Republican spokes-mouths continuing to slap lipstick on their pig of a president. And it looks to me like a lot of them are getting sick and tired of having to do so.
We are less than two months into this mis-administration, and there literally hasn’t been a single day that yet another scandal hasn’t had to be dealt with, that yet another question hasn’t been raised about Trump and his cohorts’ Russian ties, that yet another piece of the puzzle that points to their collusion with the Kremlin has not surfaced.
On top of the aforementioned, there have been the ludicrous statements by Kellyanne Conway, Sean Spicer, and Trump himself that have to be “explained” – i.e. twisted into something that sounds rational, no less truthful.
We’ve also had the widely-protested “travel ban”, angry constituents badgering their elected GOP reps, and furious voters showing up at townhalls to spew their ire.
Through it all, the party-liners have smiled through their pain. They have twisted themselves into pretzels trying to squirm their way out of direct questions about Trump’s actions, policies, and inane Tweets. They have gone above-and-beyond party loyalty in order to explain-away what has become increasingly obvious: their so-called president is an incompetent idiot, his advisors are up to their necks in probable collusion with a foreign power, and the lies emanating from the WH are piling-up on an hourly basis.
And now we have the GOP’s “healthcare plan” – a pig-in-a-poke that even the loyalist Republicans are scoffing at. Even the most skilful bullshitters in the Republican ranks are looking at this pile-o’-crap and saying unequivocally that they can’t possibly sell it to their constituents, on whose goodwill they depend to hang onto their seats come re-election time.
What I’m now starting to see is Republicans who are no longer smiling, no longer as willing to come up with ridiculous excuses for the inexcusable, no longer anxious to face angry constituents while slapping a happy face on policies they know will cost them their own jobs.
The Pig in the White House is getting uglier by the minute – and that tube of lipstick is now worn down to a nub. Trump’s mistake, among the many he’s made, is thinking that the Republican party line will continue to support his idiocy, come what may. What he hasn’t recognized is that given the choice between his job and theirs, they will act in their own self-interest before all else.
When all is said and done, even lie-in-your-face Republicans get tired of having to come up with excuses that make no sense, in order to support a pResident who keeps throwing out policies and statements that require excuse-making from one hour to the next.
The smiles are disappearing, the excuse-making is getting beyond tiresome, and the efforts to apply the cosmetics necessary to pass-off the Pig as anything other than what he is are wearing extremely thin.
Advice to Trump: Don’t EVER assume that the party that put you in office won’t eventually turn on you. YOU are expendable, especially when you become more of a liability than an asset to their “brand”. You you might keep in mind that your VP, who would take over your position once you’re gone, is the man THEY wanted all along.
It's not like your ultimate demise would cause a tear to be shed among those who you're counting on to cover your ass - the truth is they'd be elated to rid themselves of The Pig who's depleting their supply of lipstick at a rate even the professional lipstick-appliers can 't keep up with.
