(16,291 posts)A friendly reminder: It's unlikely this is the silver bullet, either. Just another piece of the puzzle. Temper your expectations.

(9,524 posts)And there are far more people digging into Trump's world than Nixon's at the time. Also Nixon was a much smarter man than Trump.

(47,244 posts)plus PBS back in those days. People had to rely on newspapers to get most of their news. It was a much different world in many ways.

(9,524 posts)occasional evening special.
And there were morning and evening editions of major newspapers. People relied heavily on newspapers. The evening news on TV was usually more of a brief recap. There breaking stories that would interrupt regular programming, but they were really big like the death of JFK. Also people still listened to the radio.

(146,254 posts)If there's something interesting in this dump, that will add to the rest.
If you're expecting someone to suddenly dump something that will force Trump out of office the same day, you're expecting too much. It won't happen. Instead, little by little, more information becomes available until there is enough to have that effect.
I'll be watching for this additional information this afternoon.

(61,690 posts)Maybe enough to get more of his voters to scratch their heads and see a pattern forming of who he is.

not to constantly be promised that smoking gun that will put him out of office
if, as you say, it doesn't exists they need to stop presenting every revelation as the one
MineralMan
(146,254 posts)Eventually, there will be enough in there to actually fire it. We have to stop expecting some single thing that is going to work.
Each grain is important, though. Patience is needed.

(146,254 posts)That always gets the job done. How many old movies do you have to see before you learn to do that, I wonder?

(26,311 posts)I had pretty much given up on all cable news. These last several weeks has changed that.
But the over hype is getting a bit annoying.
One night Maddow does a great show on Trump shady business partners and I think "wow great show." The next next day I see MSNBC has a countdown going for her "Russia ties" show and I think "holy shit this must be big" -- pfft. More of the same. Certainly not worthy of a countdown.
They are getting the audience based on good in depth reporting. No need to go off the rails with hype. It's probably the MSNBC execs getting greedy.

(348 posts)I'm just so bewildered over the Maddow criticism - and people saying she committed career suicide on live TV. She got one of Trump's returns, so she reported it.
All these little bits build on each other. This will take time.

(146,254 posts)They can't stand to wait for anything, and pounce on anything they don't think is big enough. They can never be satisfied, really.

(146,254 posts)Should have waited until it was all ready and then just dumped it. Announcing it in advance and then not making it on time is poor practice. I'm watching for this "dump." Maybe it will happen soon, or maybe Dworkin is blowing smoke up our leg.
