A better photo op for Rump with more filled seats inside would only obscure the astonishing incompetence of this administration. For better or worse, the 11-year-old girl I read about who waited outside in line the entire day in dreadful weather to see him should not have ultimately gone away crying.

(68,539 posts)That being said...no kid should hear the hate he spewed last night.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)who flock to him are generally intrinsically incompetent. They mishandle most of what they touch, and yes, have very different definitions of caring and responsibility. We've seen that over and over.
What lesson that child would have taken, any--who knows? She may be another Phyllis Schlafly.

(68,539 posts)I have to think it is a good thing when kids are kept away from the orange asshat.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)after actually seeing him. She must have had exposure to some of the bad side of his audience all those hours in line, though.
So it's unlikely she'd be like that very sheltered girl I read about, raised by fundamentalist Church of the Nazarene parents (I've known some), whose dad really regretted taking her to Rump's recent Orlando rally for what he thought would be a civics lesson. That girl was crying too as he hustled her out, but from shock and fear at what the crowd was displaying.

(31,228 posts)MSNBC was unbearable last night. I don't often watch LO, but I tuned in last night and almost his entire show was footage of Drumpf at his "rallies". I can't stand to listen to or look at the buffon, and I don't think endless footage of him is necessary.

(15,273 posts)When Casey ran for his first term, he was being interviewed on TV. There were only maybe 10-12 people, but all were packed in right behind Casey and holding a few signs so it looked like a much bigger crowd of supporters to those watching on TV.

(64,958 posts)They only need a few hundred people in the stands right behind the camera shots, then use stock footage of packed stadium for the long views. They are basically staging a production number using evil Hollywood visual effects.

(11,481 posts)The newspaper this morning said that the protest crowd numbered approximately 2500 people. And in every protest I've been at around here they UNDERESTIMATE the crowds like most main-stream media does. So let's say 3000 people outside the arena in the cold. And yes, it was REALLY cold in Nashville last night.
The arena that he held the rally at seats around 9900. So if it were half-full that would be a little over 4500 people. You can draw your own conclusions from those numbers. But even being a "blue dot" in a Republican state, this is still a very conservative area compared to most urban areas. Yet almost as many people turned out in the cold to protest the event as was inside the building. And, once again per the Tennessean, SOME of the ones inside were there to protest and disrupt. They were escorted out, but they were there inside. I'd say that was a pretty good showing by the protestors in Nashville.
