Entire town in Oregon up for sale for $3.5 million just slightly more than a Manhattan condo

For anyone wishing to be a mayor without having to deal with all that pesky democracy stuff, the town of Tiller, Oregon, can be yours for $3.5 million.

According to Reuters, the 250-acre property went on the market in 2015, with real estate firm managing the sale. It includes six houses, an apartment and a general store.

"When the federal money started dwindling away for timber, basically the mill shut down," said Garrett Zoller, the owner of Land and Wildlife, explaining how the town became so vacant. "And when the mill shut down, a lot of the loggers started having to go away."

However, for any well-off New Yorker wishing to go neighbor-less, you should know that Tiller still has two residents who are not selling their parcels — a former teacher who lives near the abandoned school and the local church pastor.
