He wants to stop free lunch programs because it "doesn't show an improvement" in their performance.
He wants to starve the elderly, children, and others in need but give the military more money.
Fuck him real hard. His kids have never gone hungry.

(12,647 posts)Mealy-mouthed Randroids and wanna-be Birchers who pretend they aren't so they will seem acceptable to the general public, but still believe there's a natural superiority in North Eastern WASP cultural elitism that defines "True Values" for America.
To me, True Value is a hardware store.
And these pretentious boobs who claim to be so much "wiser" in the ways of governance are dumber than all the hammers I could buy at one. And provide me with less value.

(29,067 posts)but I don't believe even they think they represent the entire party. The Progressive Caucus in the democratic party, for instance, doesn't represent the entire party, although I, personally, wish it were.

(9,895 posts)For the uninitiated, in 'The Godfather" universe (by Mario Puzo):
Corleone family (residing in Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx and Long Island)
Barzini family (residing in Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Staten Island)
Tattaglia family (residing in Brooklyn and Manhattan)
Stracci family (residing in Manhattan, Staten Island and New Jersey)
Cuneo family (residing in The Bronx, Manhattan and Upstate New York)
In the real world, the Five Families are as follows:
Genovese family
Gambino family
Bonanno family
Lucchese family
Colombo family
The sad thing? Those 5 fiction families and the 5 actual mob families had more honor than the current President and his bomb-throwing cabal of lunatics by a country-mile.

(3,568 posts)is becoming pretty damn intolerable. What to do, what to do. By the end of last night I found myself reading about the French Revolution. The attitude of TPTB have toward the general population in this country runs from outright contempt at worst, to total indifference at best. There isn't a lick of empathy or compassion among any of them and they are NOT going to change. Thoroughly rotten people.

(14,449 posts)It's not even free so I don't know why GOP thinks it's a welfare program. It's just a program that brings meals for those who can't go out to get food. My grandparents used it especially in dead of winter.

(15,278 posts)go to court and have Mulvaney and every other republican who espouses these views made a legal financial guardian of every individual hurt by cutting food assistance. I'd love to see the look on their faces when they see a big deduction from their paychecks and/or bank accounts for child/senior/disabled support each month. THAT would be the accountability these creeps are always yammering about.

(30,733 posts)Farmers may be impacted if Mexico decides to stop buying our corn. It has been suggested that they go to other countries. They are our third largest trading partner.
I believe farmers will be impacted if this goes through. Crashing the agricultural economy would not be good for this country.

(30,733 posts)who is a lifelong Democrat. We have three farmers on our county Democratic Central committee. Farmers in Minnesota tend to be Democrats. I should know, because that is where my farm family came from originally.
I have not spoken to any of the farmers around here who supported trump. I don't know what they think.
I am not going to say that it serves them right. We are all in danger. Our democracy is on life support right now.

(2,439 posts)I live in rural Wisconsin and if I see one more Trump or "Hillary for Prison" sign I may puke. Farmers voted overwhelmingly for Trump in IA, NE and WI, I don't think many of them realized that they are part of the programs that are considered expendable.
I am sad that Meals on Wheels may get hit, but nobody even mentions WIC, which is critical for many children.

(9,895 posts)(Which really doesn't make any sense at all when you think about the reason caucasian skin is pale in comparison to non-caucasians; but when you reject the theory of evolution, I guess you can't realize that the 'natural state' of human skin pigmentation undoubtedly started as darker hues and only became lighter as migrations from Africa took humans to areas with less intense UV radiation from the sun...the Egyptians that worshipped the "sun" were more grounded in reality than anyone who worships the "son".)
Don't be poor ... because that is another "curse from god" ... prosperity gospel and such, ya know!
Don't be sick or in need, EVER ... because that's just selfish making the society use resources on sustaining your life when those resources are needed in tax cuts for yacht maintenance and grounds keepers from Mexico or housekeepers from Guatemala that we can force to work for slave wages and live in constant fear of deportation.
Don't be curious or intellectually open ... because that requires things like NPR, PBS, CPB and schools that again take money away from deserving rich, white people and give it to undeserving, poor black, brown and yellow people (fuck those red natives, we already gave them casinos, amirite?)
Don't care about water, air, climate or sustainability ... we'll all be dead before the really bad stuff happens and caring about it now means I would have to pay for the unborn millions of other people's children and we can't abide THAT...no sir.

(4,093 posts)You get this. "Meals on Wheels isn't showing results". There you have it folks. The republican mindset. It is not Christian. It is not humanist. Kind of like the terminator. It doesn't feel pity, sympathy, empathy or remorse. It is cold blooded, money and power hungry sadism

(4,429 posts)and I thought his answers were refreshing. Sure, there was some spin - but most of it was we want to give money back to the rich. Clear as day.
It makes the choice - going forward (in the next election) - really clear. The republicans want to fund the rich. The democrats are interested in the middle class and the poor. You decide..............

(58,785 posts)Don't inadvertently spread their lies.
My husband's a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and the lack of fragile elderly and otherwise disabled people quietly starving alone in their homes and being able to recuperate at home instead of running up huge taxpayer bills in nursing facilities are all the "improvements," ever required for that program.
All these programs have proven benefits, very notably and importantly school meal programs.

(11,552 posts)This is but the latest egregious example of using a profit model for social programs. Government and business are very different entities and this latest attempt to make them the same fails miserably. In a just society, not everything should be for profit.

(508 posts)There are going to be a LOT of pissed off people over this one. I mean grabbing guns and storming the WH pissed off. This neighborhood is a working class neighborhood and nearly every kid has free school lunch every day. I don't mind tax money going to this and the neighbors don't either. And since this is a working class area and there are a lot of people who hunt, there are (legal) guns in nearly every house. I hope these stupid ass repukes know what they are getting into. It won't be pretty, that's for sure.

(37,648 posts)It's to help with feeding poor children who can't afford food, AND to improve performance.
To know if it helps improve performance, you'd have to starve them first for years to compare performance to current performance.
