So of course, Meals on Wheels or after school programs, or the NEA or other programs for the poor, children, or elderly don't "work". There's no profit to be made.
Here's what people like Mulvaney think.

Tax dollars are sacred you know. They're little social investments that the GOP taxpayer thinks s/he should get a bump in the bank account on. And if they see other people they don't think are worth it getting their money, it's like stealing.
Those damn' stupid poor folks, and lazy old folks, and all those spoiled brats are skimming money off their tax returns, instead of working hard and saving, like good Conservatives do! Heck, you know how much of a sacrifice it was to put a down-payment on an Altima for the "little woman" rather than that sweet Mercedes back in February when the tax return came back?
All because some poor idiot made the stupid choice to be born poor in a depressed community.

That's why most Libertarians and Conservatives hate paying taxes. They don't think they get enough of their money back.

Community Well-being? Providing opportunities for people who are at the bottom? Let the Liberals spend all their money on those lazy moochers. But don't go try taking anything from a Conservative...or even suggest a Conservative should care, especially if they can buy their way out of any problem with investments or trust funds.
