Trump: I'm having a major meeting on the VA at Mar-a-Lago. You gonna be there?

VA Sec: No

Trump: You heard about it, right? Gonna be great

I'm assuming the subject of the meeting is to ensure his picture is prominently displayed. Tommy_Carcetti Mar 2017 #2

I think that's probably the only thing he really cares about in terms of the VA. And I'm not even joking about that.

But I have to say, regardless of political party, that's just really weird. In general, it's just weird.

The President is the Commander in Chief ( ), and it is customary in military and veteran facilities to display pics of the chain of command.

But there's something about it that's a little too cult of personality for my taste.

Not that I didn't mind seeing President Obama's picture in general, but the practice itself strikes me as odd.

I do a lot of foreign travel, and when Bush the Dumber was president, DHS used to have his picture on the back wall above the passport control booths at the Charlotte airport.

When Obama was elected, the Bush picture went down, but they didn't put up Obama's.
