Trumps wants to privatize FAA and fire 30,000 of its workers.

Does he have any sense of what that does to the economy, to dump 30,000 tax paying, income sharing people onto the unemployment roll, all at once?

And all those other fed. workers he wants to fire....did no one tell him about taxes and the economy?

The reason he fires them is because a private owner will not want to pay their salary level.

Can you imagine poorly paid, inexperienced air traffic controllers?

the FAA would lose more than 65 percent of its workers and be reduced to the role of a regulatory oversight agency, much like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which issues auto regulations and recalls faulty vehicles.

wonder what else he wants to privatize.

4. His goal in privatizing the FAA . . .

is to hand huge aviation contracts to his billionaire friends (who will make a fucking mess of air traffic), so they can then pay these same 30,000 workers far less than they make now. And they will provide no benefits to them.

Same story with every industry the republicans want to privatize . . . billionaires rake in the cash and the workers get a raw deal.

with poor training. Its a brilliant idea, just like private prisons, and no doubt the privately owned FAA (guess they can't use that name) will be just as wonderful.

The issue has divided the airline industry, won surprising union support for leaving the federal workforce and drawn comparisons with other nations that have privatized their air traffic control networks. If it wins congressional support this year, the FAA would lose more than 65 percent of its workers and be reduced to the role of a regulatory oversight agency, much like the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which issues auto regulations and recalls faulty vehicles.

7. Trump is finishing the job that Reagan started.

Reagan attacked all unions when he went after PATCO.

Now Trump wants to privatize airline controllers and the FAA.

Red Flags, everyone!

Can't think of ONE case where privatization actually improved anything. Anything at all.

and the subsequent problems.
If I had not given up flying by then, I would have after that.

doesn't FAA have something to do with airline safety checks and regs???

14. Yes! Even small plane mishaps are investigated by the FAA.

Huge mistake to turn these tasks over to private contractors. Greater potential for bribes, "I didn't see that" situations, getting too buddy-buddy, etc.

want this going to the lowest bidder. We don't want overworked, underpaid, angry, frustrated air traffic controllers.

Unless they are directing AF1 these days.

What could possibly go wrong?

OTOH I bet there are a whole lot of scared shitless ATC's that voted for Trump and the republicans last fall!
