Trump Is Intimidated By Merkel.....

as he is by any strong willed and powerful women. Hillary comes to mind. Meryl Streep, etc. You get the drift.

He knows he's outmatched by women like these - so in order to compensate - he does things like not shake hands or mispronounce (in the case of Merkel) her first name. We all know how he treated Hillary. And with Meryl Streep - he had to call her 'over-rated' when she stood up to him.

He thinks he takes the upper hand when he does things like this. We all know - he is intimidated by them - so he has to 'bully' them.

This is just another way that Trump manifests his lack of self-confidence. He projects like he has a lot of confidence - but his inadequacy and incompetence shows through.

He's just a little man.

He is 'insecure'. It's his insecurity that drives every thing else about his personality. He over compensates every time. Doesn't know when to stop or pull back. Never apologizes. Always doubles down. And he continues to get himself in his own self-inflicted trouble. He'll never learn. Again - we're stuck with having to deal with that.

Yes, he does. Mommy sent him away to military school. It's all downhill from there.

Mommy issues = he hates and mistrusts women which is why he feels the need to treat them like he does. However, it also means he's afraid of strong women.

As a strong woman myself I find his behavior idiotic. It would take one sentence to rip his face off.

One has to stand up to his being a 'bully'. Something that - it appears - that any one surrounding him - never does.

We've maybe seen a couple of examples of press standing up to him. His response to that is to always blame someone else. He needs a foil to take the fall for him.

Now that we've had over 50 days of this - I think people are beginning to realize how to deal with him. Ultimately I think he'll crumble. And when he does - it will be a big meltdown.

WOW! tRump looks pissed and won't even look at Merkel. Merkel looks a little surprised as she looks at him and awkwardly smiles. This clearly is a photo op tRump doesn't want to be at. I love the fact that she didn't try to rescue the moment. Instead, she allowed the world to see this American president at his best!

but when we discussed etiquette in high school I was taught that a man should not extend his hand to a woman for a handshake (this was from a female teacher). It is the initiation of physical contact and it puts the woman in the awkward position of either accepting that contact when it is not desired or appearing to be ungracious by not shaking hands.

As much as I despise Trump, I have to give Trump a pass for not initiating a handshake. However, the other actions such as initiating eye contact and the rest of his behavior are fair game for discussion.

Also, I'll bet they don't teach etiquette in high school anymore. I think they started phasing things like that out shortly after I was in high school, about half a million years ago.

If they do, I assume, since women and men are to be regarded as equal, I don't think any distinction (except for maybe some cultural sensitivities) would be made.

in my English class during my senior year. It wasn't anything that was sanctioned by the school district and it was only one or two days long. The teacher was in her late 20's so it was mostly basics like gentlemen opening car doors, the order of utensils in a place setting and gentlemen should never eat at the table without wearing a shirt.

I guess that last one might be a more interesting item for discussion now that women and men are regarded to be as equal.
