What 'America First' agenda could look like

Greg Sargent
The Washington Post

A new CNN poll ... finds .. large majorities reject the .. idea that undocumented immigrants who have been in this country for a long time — and have not committed serious crimes — should nonetheless be subject to removal ...

... the narrative that President Donald Trump and his top adviser, Stephen K. Bannon, have been telling about what is happening in this country is getting translated into concrete policy specifics. And Americans are recoiling from the results.

The CNN poll ... finds .. 58 percent of Americans worry that those efforts "will go too far and result in deportation of people who haven't committed serious crimes," while only 40 percent worry that those efforts "won't go far enough and dangerous criminals will remain."

The poll also finds that a whopping 90 percent favor allowing those who have been working here "for a number of years," know English, and are willing to pay back taxes to stay and eventually apply for citizenship. Only nine percent want them deported ...

the preponderance of undocumented workers are already paying taxes. What they are not doing is earning any benefits from those taxes, because they're not citizens

I am so sick of "they must pay back taxes." Every time they buy something be it food or services like a phone they pay a tax. And depending on what type of job they have they pay taxes. Only they can't file for a refund like we can if they overpay. And YES they receive zero benefits from these taxes they have already paid.

Funny thing is repugs hate paying taxes. And try to avoid doing so. Maybe we should take away their citizenship for failing to pay taxes. See how that works for a while.

The other vile phrase repugs use is the "get in line." What a big fat fucking joke. There is no line. But they must go to the end of it and wait their turn or something.
