But before that we must work at the local levels to turn the state house blue.

The biggest thing will be to end gerrymandering, which results in the political polarization of the entire country.

but ultimately Senators have a greater chance of making lasting and significant changes. That's why smart presidents, like Obama, try to accomplish objectives through legislative rather than executive actions. My favorite example of a Senator accomplishing way more than he could have as President is Ted Kennedy. Check out his legislative record and ask yourself if he could have been nearly as effective in two terms.

I'd vote for Al Franken if he ran. I'd like to hear his plans from him first.

I have a line up of dream candidates and he's on it. However, I am thinking in this climate his Jewishness might work against him. It's not a problem for me or most liberals, but could hurt him with the usual suspects.

I think it might be a hang up. I think that might have been the hang up that people had w/ Bernie as well. I loved Bernie - voted for him in the primary - but I don't know how fly-over country would handle having a Jewish president.

Thus, it would probably make not a great deal of difference.

Also, Bernie seems to have aroused very little anti-semitism.

Having said that, though, he fell awfully quiet once he became a Senator. I understand that. He has done a lot of good. If he came out as being more in the Bernie mold I could see him as a good candidate.

However, I am reading "A Generation of Sociopaths" and I hope that Mr. Trump is our last Boomer president. I know many, many Boomers are decent human beings but I do believe they (by which I mean me) have gotten us into the mess we are in right now.

But over anyone in the Hillary mold (McAuliffe?), etc. I would accept Al. I just ask that there be a discarding of Boomers in the political field, please.
