Donald Trump is thinking "short term" survival...

He can feel the heat all around him. He understands that he cannot have the truth come out about his personal or financial dealings.

He believes that something big is going to come out in the next couple of weeks. And he has to set the table so the story will benefit him in the best way possible. All that matters to him is that his "supporters" believe him instead of the "fake news" media. It doesn't matter how damaging the stories are if he can spin them to his advantage.

He expects a big story about the Russians and is hoping that the FBI over-stepped its boundaries in the process of their investigation? He will then attempt to portray himself and his cronies as "victims" of an over-zealous intelligence agency. The FBI will be the bad guy.

He is laying the foundation for such an event, in my opinion. No matter how damaging the information against him, he will attempt to turn it on his accusers. All that matters to him is that his supporters believe him instead of the "fake news".

He believes his survival is at stake.

1. I sometimes think that he is so detached from reality,

surrounded by enablers and sycophants, and emotionally and intellectually compromised that he is unable to comprehend his predicament. The man lives in a fantasy world of his own making where his crazy thoughts are facts and truth.

I am not sure he thinks he is in trouble. It takes a certain amount of reality based existence to have that awareness.

He's piling on the emoluments as quickly as possible.
Also he's using the government to put our tax money into his pocket via trips to his properties.

He's acting like someone with limited time trying to steal as much cash as possible as quickly as possible.

6. He is already blaming his voters.

He, and his ass-kissing surrogates, are always saying "they knew all about him, and they voted for him". So, blame your Trump-voting neighbor, cousin, auntie, etc.

A way to further divide the electorate, perhaps?

but I respectfully disagree. He has already started his 2020 campaign. He continues to love the rallies which feed his ego, which is nearly insatiable. He just got the American taxpayer to fund a heliport on his private property. He tweets about Snoop Dog rather than the CBO report on his health care plan. He wants only more adulation and adoration. He is totally unaware of his surroundings or the impact of his words as has been so painfully demonstrated recently. He is going to suck as much oxygen out of the US economy as he and his family can inhale and expect us to bow and applaud as many of us get sick or fall into poverty.
