A Rotary President. He's got the "Hail, Fellow. Well Met" schtick down pat and has the gift of gab that lets him say the pleasing, standard thing expected in almost all circumstances. He has the clean-cut, dressed for success look and the knowing smile rehearsed so well that he can't do anything else.
He'd be a shoe-in to win any run for President of any local Rotary Club, and maybe even for a regional or national Presidency, in good time.
As a SCOTUS Justice, though, I'm not liking him one bit. Behind that well-rehearsed facade is a cunning, scheming Republican who will gut the intent of the Constitution, but always with that smile on his face and a well-spoken word or two.
Filibuster the SOB, Democrats! Just do it.

(694 posts)I thought he was auditioning to be the next Mr. Rogers. He wasn't very believeable.

(146,255 posts)I'm not surprised that he noticed it, though. He's a very, very perceptive man.

(86,330 posts)on NPR, my only access to this, and Sen. Franken's questions brought out something I felt compelled to write to the Senator about and asked him to ask the candidate. Since the candidate insists that he reviews "the law" when making a decision... which he also proved was BS... is that in the "frozen trucker" dissent he claims to have stuck to the letter of the law, only he didn't. Had he actually done that, reviewed the law prior to making the dissenting rant, he would have seen that his claims are BS. The driver in the case was operating TWO (2) vehicles rather than just one. It was two vehicles attached in combination - actual terminology in the DOT laws - the tractor (power unit) is ONE VEHICLE, the trailer is the SECOND VEHICLE which he was unable/unwilling to operate. He was well within his legal rights to act as he did for self preservation and Gorsuck was dead wrong and chose to only cherry pick parts of the law to reach his dissenting conclusion... glad the case went against his decision. As a retired driver, I felt the need to point out that pesky little fact because even a 9th grade dropout truck driver would know this as it is also usually an applicable point made on the actual licensing exam!
