it stems from 2 things my early life narrative and my faith!
As child being born in war torn Europe, I saw the devastation that military belligerence had wrought.
As a child I saw my disabled mom with an amputated leg because of having to walk miles and miles in the Bavarian Mountains in the mid winter of 1943
As a child walking in the living room a week before Christmas at the age of seven seeing my military war veteran father sitting in a chair dead and then 4 days later listening to the heat rending tune of Taps at a military graveside funeral.
Being an immigrant and my first experience in the United State was having rocks thrown at me and being called a Nazi
As an adult being formed with the National Conference of Catholic Bishops Pastoral letter on the economy discussing as they put it: "Christ's preferential option for the poor"
Working with in the church and social agencies on poverty and justice issues
Watching neighbors lose their home during the recession
Traveling all over the world and being confronted with the United States being a bully nation
There are many others but these are some of the bullet points
