National Security Expert Predicts A Whole Bunch of Republicans Will Be Indicted for Major Crimes

By Sarah Jones on Wed, Mar 22nd, 2017 at 4:26 pm

Instead of it exonerating President Donald Trump from his unfounded, wild accusation against President Obama, Schindler wrote, "We are now just one diligent special prosecutor away from a whole bunch of Republicans getting indicted for major crimes over #TrumpRussia."

Former NSA and current national security columnist John Schindler was not impressed with Republican House Intel Committee Chair Devin Nunes’ desperate outing of (alleged) incidental collection on Wednesday.

Instead of it exonerating President Donald Trump from his unfounded, wild accusation against President Obama, Schindler wrote, “We are now just one diligent special prosecutor away from a whole bunch of Republicans getting indicted for major crimes over #TrumpRussia.”

The spies are not happy with Rep. Nunes performance today.

Suffice it to say, every move Donald Trump and his allies take in this Trump Russia investigation is an example of what not to do if you are under investigation, especially if the reason you’re under investigation involves our national security. Kicking the intelligence community in the face and stabbing them in the back while you misrepresent and impugn their work and deny what they seem to have proof of is just not a great plan.

It’s becoming more and more obvious why Republicans are refusing to appoint a special prosecutor and call for a legitimately independent investigation, and are instead enabling, giving cover for, and assisting the Trump Russia connection.

since Sessions has recused himself, it would be the Acting Deputy Attorney General, Dana Boente--an Obama holdover. He was appointed to that position when Trump fired Sally Yates for not defending the first Muslim ban.

Trump has nominated his own Deputy Attorney General--don't know when/if he will be confirmed.

Boente won't be around long. We can only stall his replacement for so long.

This is very disturbing, even if the FBI recommends indictment, the Justice Department can choose not to.

There is literally nothing we can do because they control everything...

that this was the planned outcome all along, that in order to root out the culprits
wherever they may be, the Trump campaign had to be given room to maneuver
and run their operation and 'win'. Hence Hillary could do nothing right, she was guilty
of everything she touched, and the emails issue surfaced at just the right time, and
Trump took the EC vote.

Dunno. Judges are sometimes said to put defendants back on the street so as to
keep an eye on them and catch others - cast a wide net. Plus it yields plenty of
political drama and boosts IC and legal employment just great!

Only congress (impeachment) or the Department of Justice have that power.

The FBI could recommend charges, they could even recommend them publicly, and the Justice Department led by Jeff Sessions can simply refuse.

Not to mention that the Executive Branch has unlimited power of the pardon.

We are powerless.

I don't know how this will end.

If the FBI publicly recommends charges and the DOJ refuse, that could trigger a civil war.

Thereby making themselves accessories.
If Democrats gain control of both houses again then you could see a whole passel of these guys locked up.

I guess they just assume that they will remain in power forever now and have nothing to worry about, otherwise they would be playing it smart and help to weed out the traitors. Instead they are aligning themselves with the traitors and assume they will never be caught.

Either the complete collapse, an historical collapse, of the federal government, with multiple convictions.

or Republicans will stall and impede, and tamper with evidence, and lie long enough until perhaps a major terrorist attack (false flag or not), and/or some new major armed forced invasion announcement into some middle eastern country in order to rally enough of the population to pause in all of this and 'rally round the President' and of course 'the troops'.

https://20committee.com/about/

John R. Schindler is a strategist, author, and commentator whose security-focused career has included a couple decades as both a scholar and practitioner. He is the national security columnist for the New York Observer.

Previously a professor of national security affairs at the U.S. Naval War College, where he taught courses on security, strategy, intelligence, terrorism, and military history, before joining the NWC faculty, he spent nearly a decade with the super-secret National Security Agency as an intelligence analyst and counterintelligence officer. There’s not much he can say about that, except that he worked problems in Eastern Europe and the Middle East with a counterespionage flavor, and he collaborated closely with other government agencies who would probably prefer he didn’t mention them. He’s also served as an officer specializing in cryptology (now called information warfare for no particular reason) in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

He’s been a a senior fellow of the International History Institute at Boston University and as well as the chairman of the Partnership for Peace Consortium‘s Combating Terrorism Working Group, a unique body which brings together scholars and practitioners from more than two dozen countries across Eurasia to tackle problems of terrorism, extremism, and political violence. He has lectured on terrorism and security in over twenty countries.

He is a historian by background, with a B.A. and M.A. from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. from McMaster University. His books deal with topics like the Italian front in World War I, Islamist extremism in the Balkans, and an insider’s look at how Al-Qa’ida thinks and operates. His most recent book is on the beginning of World War I on the Eastern Front. He’s currently writing a couple books on cool stuff.
