2. They don't hate government. They hate it helping average people.

They want government to spy on people. They want government to block the right of women to decide on their health care. They want government to tell LGBT people who they can't marry. They just hate government when it acts like a counterbalance to the destructive acts of the wealthy and powerful.

6. True. We all want government to work for us.

The problem is that the Republican "Us" usually doesn't even include the vast majority of Republicans. The Democratic "Us" typically includes everyone, even the rich, just not as much as they want.

While government should be fair toward the rich, there's really no reason it should be helping them.

If you're rich, you're already winning. You've got everything you need and more. No reason any of our tax dollars should be used to further prop up the wealthy.

It's the poor, the sick, the disabled, and the out-of-work that need the government's help.

10. Yes. I have a saying that I use when talking with friends and relatives about taxes and policy.

"The rich will always do well regardless. They will always have or find a way to be rich".

Unless they are incredibly stupid, or incredibly misfortune (though I would say 99% would have to be stupidity). Money makes money and it is difficult to go from Riches to Rags.

The reality is as you said, the rich benefit from the labor of the middle and the poor. As long as the taxes are not as you said, "unfair" (like 99% after a million dollars or something) the rich do well regardless of the financial climate. The problem has been that they seem to want more and more. They seem to want it all and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it all.

The government is the only entity that can counteract those tendencies to want to accumulate more wealth and power at everyone else's expense.

3. Whether or not they hate it is irrelevant.

They are paid handsomely to strangle it, and we let them make that legal.

Do we even care whether a hit man dislikes his targets?

They hate it when government works for people unlike themselves, rich, White people. When govt. provides education, healthcare, jobs, and other services to the poor and middle class they hate it, but when the govt. bails out Wall Street, they love it.

11. They want "government" when government benefits them

They don't want "government " when it doesn't benefit them.

They want to eliminate welfare, but not corporate welfare.

They want to reduce personal freedoms, but have an unregulated market.

They don't want to pay taxes, even though part of those taxes they do pay go towards the people and the things that helped them to make their money.

They want government to furnish them with the things they need in order to make money, but they don't want to pay for those things.
