DNC leaders headed to Michigan to try and reverse GOP vote

The newly elected leaders of the Democratic National Committee are traveling to Michigan Friday, in part, to ensure that the state begins the transition back to voting for Democrats for president.
It will be the first stop of a nationwide "Turnaround Tour" for DNC chairman Tom Perez and deputy chairman Keith Ellison, a Detroit native and congressman from Minnesota. Their stops in Warren, Flint and Detroit will give voters a chance to hear their vision for the party and the country, as well as get input from Michiganders on what they feel is important.
"This is a strong indication that nationally, people know that Michigan is a critical state and we need to do a better job of reaching out to voters," said Brandon Dillon, chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party. "The election did not go our way and our organizations have an obligation to really be out there listening to what democratic and independent voters have to say.
"It's really time to regroup and rebuild political power."
In Michigan, voters had been casting their ballots for Democratic presidential candidates in every election since 1992 and nearly all the polls before the 2016 election predicted the streak would continue with a victory for Democrat Hillary Clinton.
