I screwed my courage to the sticking-place
And ventured to Freeperland for the first time since the election.
I now have a smile on my face. Their heads are collectively exploding. And boy do they hate Ryan with the intensity of the burning sun. I just hope the reports are true and the plan has crashed and burned. now excuse me while I go shower

3. Why do they hate Ryan, he is advocating side by side with Trump?
I can see why they would hate moderate republicans who oppose the bill because it will harm poor people, but Ryan hates the poor just as much as most of these assholes do.

6. Because they need a scapegoat
They cannot allow Trump to be blamed for the loss. They are physically incapable of blaming him, themselves. They also haven't forgotten this is a marriage of convenience and Ryan said mean things about their Saviour during the primaries.

7. You know what worries me, that it will pass after all.
I simply cant get over this fact: most of these GOP very much want to take resources away from the poor and give huge tax breaks to the rich, they also very much want to destroy Obama legacy because he is black.
So I am worried |

8. This isn't about that, though
This is purely selfish on their part. Normally they would go along. But they have heard from their constituents, this will cost them in 2018 if it goes through and their people lose their healthcare. Trump has it all wrong because he lives in an alternate reality where everyone hates Obamacare and just loves the idea of him winning, so he tells them not ramming it through will cost them. It won't, the polls show only 17 percent of people support Trumpcare and people are afraid. So they are voting in their own interest, they don't want to lose their seats.
I never expected this to stall in the House, myself, I fully expected the Senate would have to shut this down. That is evidence of just how badly they have fucked this up. Then they make it worse by gutting it to appeal to the Tea Party and make it impossible for the moderates to support it. |

14. They do, but they do not want to be blamed for it.
That is actually a huge thing. Reagan was a horrible President, but a good actor and salesperson. He got everyone to believe that cutting taxes on the rich would make everyone's life better. The Republicans were just taking the government boot off the necks of the job creators.
We saw over 25+ years how that didn't work to the point that Reagan had to find money through backdoor taxes to plug the massive holes he blew in the budget. Then Bush 2 did it again and the economy tanked. While Trump's true believers are unlikely to ever leave him (unless he is actually nice to a Black person, Jew, woman etc...) the reality is that people are watching, and if they get hurt, they are going to blame the party in power. Republicans function best when they are out of power, or at least when they only control one or 2 branches of government. They do not know how to govern for the people at all. Now that they are in the spotlight, everything they pass is theirs. This plan is theirs and it will hurt a lot of people so the ones with half a brain have to understand that they won't be able to write this off on the Democratic Party. The Freedom Caucus, are just arsonists who bought into the Reagan, Fox, Alex Jones idea that government is the enemy, so they are just saying no to anything where government helps "those people" The Republican position is untenable right now. Not saying there isn't room to worry, but for once, the Republicans are in a position where they actually have to govern and they don't want to. |

This feels like a bit of karma, but I'll wait until the official votes are tallied.

15. After reading your post I went over to the Dark Side
to get a small laugh, too.
The best one I saw was this little gem: "I love Trump. I loathe, despise, spit upon, take bodacious dumps upon, tar, feather, burn, stab, shoot, eviscerate, and otherwise totally disrespect the fetid pile to excrement that is the Republican party. The entire party would have to fight for the single testicle that apparently is shared between them. Heck, it appears that the female members have much more testosterone than do wimpy little turds like Ryan, and our two so-called leaders of the house and senate. A pox on them. They will be totally responsible for the upcoming civil war." Wonder how they REALLY feel about it? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
