...he will have put our country in even more of a crisis than it already is.
He does not care.
He is a deep threat to our democracy, in my opinion.
Once he begins to get rid of his internal threats, it is a very, very serious situation.

(111,072 posts)From Wikipedia:
William S. Sessions. William Steele Sessions (born May 27, 1930) is an American civil servant who served as a federal judge and fourth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Sessions served as FBI director from 1987 to 1993, when he was dismissed by President Bill Clinton.

The only FBI Director ever fired, up to this point.

(53,986 posts)I'm certain in that big long Wikipedia article you can find out why Clinton dismissed Sessions; it would have been "for cause" tho I don't recall offhand which scandle it was that sent Sessions into the dog house. FBI director is not a political appointment. He's not a cabinet secretary who resigns after each inauguration. Comey does not "serve at the pleasure" of Trump

(73,524 posts)A president can replace an FBI director at any time. The FBI director serves at the president's "pleasure."
I do not think Trump will fire Comey though. He can't afford to.

This was after Comey said he was investigating Rump camp's involvement with Russia.

(53,986 posts)The wiki article on the job states the FBI director has a 10-year term of office. Several of them, like Louis Freeh (and I expect James Comey), were appointed by one president but continued to serve for some years under a different one.

Both Obama and Clinton have fired (but technically called for them to submit letters resigning) FBI directors, and it was in their first year in office, but in each case there was clearly a scandal that led to their resignations.
