Much easier for Democrats to fight efforts to blow it up and publicize votes on destroying pieces of it.

6. Either it will be aggressively defunded via riders buried in other bills

or it will somehow be tied to current dollar amounts, inflation defunding it over time.

Remember, Medicaid when it started was to be a publicly funded insurance program for the working poor. It was tied to dollar amounts that were generous in the 1960s but represented total destitution by the 00s. Very few outside of elderly people in nursing homes who had run through their life savings or pregnant teenagers and their subsequent children qualified for it.

Even with the Republicans attempts to destroy it, it will never self destruct. In fact, I think it never will go away. The Senate will never pass any bill that will pass the house because any such bill will be too far right and draconian and no bill that is left enough to pass the Senate will pass the House because of the in fighting between the moderates and the freedom caucus. It is one of the best catch 22s of all time.

It's already happening, a bunch of exchanges are down to two or one option.

The problem isn't the ACA, it's the costs of the system. Sick people are too expensive under current billing and medical practices. We do still need reform, but not over who is paying, but on what is paid.
