What do you think about WaPo reporter Robert Costa?

He has some direct connection to the WH. Just today, after Ryan's Epic Fail, 45/140 called . . . . Costa. And spoke. On the record. For 15 minutes. (Where does a president find 15 minutes to shoot the breeze with a reporter?)

I'm getting pings on this guy. They started months ago.

he wants to plant a story....he wanted to plant "He pulled the Bill" story...several other reporters ie NYT Times reporters were called too, so you can see the game DJT is playing with the media..

Trump got to know him then. He seems like a fair enough guy.

so, I am not sure anything more to be made from this except he wanted to preempt coverage by the two leading newspapers and both Costa and Haberman are WH correspondents.

...so he can slobber all over it.

Check his reports. They're straining to promote or defend Trump.

TAPPER is excellent in my book. COSTAS seems to skewer wingnuts but then "balances" it out.

snip...Costa was a Robert L. Bartley Fellow at The Wall Street Journal.[4] He was later hired by the conservative magazine National Review as a reporter in 2010.[5][6] In December 2012, he was promoted to the position of Washington editor for National Review.[6] While at National Review, Costa was a contributor for CNBC, frequently appearing on The Kudlow Report, and for MSNBC.[6]

In 2013, during the United States federal government shutdown, Costa's reporting on the Republican party in Congress was widely praised.[7][4] The New Republic called him "the most important reporter in the country over the past few weeks"[5] and Slate writer David Weigel called him "omnipresent."[8] New York magazine called him "the golden boy of the government shutdown."[7]

Costa has not identified his political views publicly, only saying he's not on the "conservative team."[5] He has cited Robert Caro[9] and Tim Russert[10] as influences.

In November 2013, he left National Review and was hired by The Washington Post, officially joining the paper in January 2014.[11][4] Newsbusters, a media watchdog website for the conservative organization Media Research Center, said that it was "perhaps the first time in decades that a top-tier "mainstream" news outlet has hired away a reporter from a right-leaning publication."[12]

On December 10, 2015, it was announced that Costa was named as a political analyst for both NBC and MSNBC.[13]

Costa is known for his deep sourcing within national political circles and has interviewed President Donald Trump on multiple occasions. Politico has called him the "Trump whisperer."[14]

In March 2016, Costa interviewed Trump with Bob Woodward,[15] who has been a mentor to him.[16]...snip

To me he is one of the rare few actual reporters left,
not only in terms of the info he acquires but how clearly
and compellingly he articulates that info. He is very talented.
I think i understand the "Trump whisperer" tag. I think he
listens carefully to Trump, Trump feels that, and enjoys
being questioned so carefully and incisively and straightforwardly
by Costa, partly to see how close Costa can get to the shit he tries
to keep hidden. Costa and Malcolm Nance are two guys i hang on their
every word.
