I.e., set him up over something he knew would fail just as a means of payback for past slights and criticism.
Part of me thinks that was the prime motivating factor for the Madman. But part of me thinks he's genuinely butt hurt over this, so who knows?

(58,724 posts)So he could look like a great dealmaker.
But now that it didn't, his people are spinning it like it was part of some master plan.

(10,621 posts)Trump blames Ryan for making him look foolish.
He couldn't be bothered to read the plan, or to try and understand all the complicated issues related to health care. He trusted that Ryan was an "expert" who knew what he was doing.
Now, he's pissed off because that obviously wasn't the case.
It's kind of like how a business tycoon just assumes that his lawyers and accountants are competent and doing the jobs they are hired to do. Meanwhile, the tycoon concerns himself with greater things. Like golf.

(6,262 posts)cut through next. Trump only cares about tax cuts for him, so he caved to Ryan's sequence in order to get the tax matter done more easily.
He never cared about health care except for a sure campaign crowd pleaser. Now he blames Ryan for starting with something "so complicated" and making him actually work for a week or so twisting arms without understanding anything in the bill at all.
Health care will still get worse and worse, due to sneak attacks on various components that help it succeed, such as basically getting rid of the individual mandate for healthy young adults.
We really really need public option, even just starting out in regions that are down to one company, that would be the first building block to get us to Medicare for all.
The whole reason for rushing with the health care bill was to get an even bigger tax cut for the rich when they do "tax reform" next

(1,129 posts)45 wanted Ryan to face yuge difficulties so 45 would have the opportunity to swoop in and "close" the ' almost failing' deal ..
then he could boast that it was a such a great thing for Americans that 45 was there to close the deal since Ryan could not.....
In donnie's dream world he had visions of sugary sweet revenge and bigly kept Campaign promises dancing in his head....
45 gets to publicly save the day thanks to his unbelievably excellent big-league super duper closing powers ....
While establishing a perception of Ryan now being indebted to 45
Which gives 45 something to rub Ryan's nose in anytime he feels like it.....

(32,653 posts)really didn't want to be associated with its repeal. But he had a "promise" to keep. What happened is the best of all worlds for him--he gets to deflect blame to everyone else.
He is going to continue his efforts to sabotage & destroy the ACA and then swoop in like some kind of hero at the end. For example, what happens with the vague executive orders he signed back in January? Is the employer and individual mandate over with? Nobody knows what's going on. He knows the MSM won't properly expose that he and the GOP are the ones sabotaging the ACA. Even if they try, he'll just come up with more distractions. SMH
