But the D agenda and message must be clear: the crazies in the R party are selling you out. They have no ideas, the country is against them, and the only reason you got elected was because you appealed to the worst in Americans, especially on the racist front.
The Dems should then present their laundry list of progressive programs, like fixing Obamacare, and tell tRump that if he wants to have any success as president, he is better off working with Dems and looking for support from moderate Rs to get things done, because the radical and less-radical wings of the R Party are never going to agree on supporting anything, especially if he can count on not a single Dem crossing over to vote with him. Point out that for most of his life, tRump said he was a Dem. State the obvious: he's only an R because he wanted to get the nomination and get elected. State the obvious: the country thinks you're a liar. State the obvious: the world believes you are the biggest loser, and they believe that because Rs have bad ideas and can't get those ideas passed even when they have huge margins in the House.
Of course, tRump would reject such an appeal and the Dems wouldn't expect him not to. But if anything, it will be a clear message to him that he cannot hope for Dem support for his radical agenda and that he has almost zero chance of passing any legislation that has even a whiff of moderation about it if he is counting on only R votes to get things done.
In effect, tRump would need to declare he was now a Democrat. Would that be so difficult for a person who changes with the wind, has no intellectual commitment to any political position and even less knowledge of what those positions embrace? He could really turn D.C. upside down by following such a strategy, and he'd have more of the country behind him than he has now.

(34,845 posts)Remember he didn't even consult republicans om his first (failed) executive order. There is a reason for that.
He knows that if he faces people honestly his incompetence will show through like a quasar.
And besides he needs to be removed from office, not supported.
