I wrote this the day after the election....

Make no mistake. There is an overwhelming anger in this country and it is laughable that the Right Wing are all shaking their heads and wondering why we just can’t accept the fact that their candidate won. Why can’t we all embrace him and support him and just give him a chance darnit???
Every 4 years in this country there is an election. A group of like-minded folks campaign and vote and when their guy wins? Well that means that the country gets to be shaped a little bit in their vision of the world. These are the fruits of the victory. Of course, there will always be compromises but for the most part—traditionally this same scenario plays out regardless of it being Democratic or Republican. Judges that need to be appointed across the land get to be appointed in the ideology of the those that drove their candidate to the win and the great and delicate fabric of democracy receives an update. The pendulum swings back and forth and back and forth between the parties and pretty much generally equalizes somewhere in the squishy middle with neither party staying in control long enough to make it completely unbearable for the other party for too long.
Up until 2008.
The first words out of the minority party was OBSTRUCT. Despite clear mandates, everything was blocked by Constitutional tools that have traditionally been reserved to keep one party from completely obliterating the minority party. But these tools have been routinely used since 2008 on budgets and nominations and legislation that was important to all of us who worked to get our candidate nominated. We wasted years proving that he was a legitimate President.
There was unprecedented HATE and disrespect leveled at this President and his family.
Brainwashed right wing media minions spread myth after myth after myth. Those myths are now accepted truths by many on the right—no idea that what they believe doesn’t hold any more truth than the existence of the Tooth Fairy.
As someone who spent the last 8 years watching aghast at the legacy that was denied the person that I elected for no other reason than pure partisan hatred that was fueled by the fact that this President also happened to be Black, I am angry. By the denial of allowing MY President to nominate his nominee to the Supreme Court for the SOLE purpose of allowing YOUR party to stack the court in your ideology for decades…well, I am here to tell you.
I will give YOUR president the exact same treatment that my President received. The strange fruit of victory that my candidate received was drenched with blood hoisted by the supporters of your president and I will do everything in my power to destroy the vision of your president that is fueled by that racial hatred.
