Linda Lavin of 'Alice' and actor-husband to open restaurant in Claverack

CLAVERACK — In the 1970s and 1980s, actress Linda Lavin played a diner waitress in the popular sitcom “Alice.” Today, she plans to open a restaurant in Claverack with her husband.

The property, located at 484 Route 23, was once home to Yorkshire Farms Restaurant and Tavern. The building houses an antique shop and has not operated as a restaurant for the last five years.

A second house with three apartment units is also nestled on the property, to the right of the restaurant.

Lavin and her husband, actor Steve Bakunas, will close on the property April 10, Bakunas said.
