Less than a week after a poll found that Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., is the most popular politician in America, a major progressive gathering has announced that he will be their headliner.

The second annual progressive gathering known as the “People’s Summit,” which was announced on Tuesday, is going to be headlined by Sanders, according to a report by The Hill. It is scheduled for June 9 to June 11 in Chicago with the theme of moving “beyond the resistance.”

Nina Turner, a major Sanders surrogate during the Democratic presidential primaries last year, told The Hill that “there is no force more powerful than a community on the move for justice. We will protest, we will plan and we will preserve in the building of political power from the ground up. This is our moment.”

Similarly RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of National Nurses United (the first national labor group to endorse Sanders’ candidacy), told CNN that the invitation “comes from a time when the momentum in social movements are all in high gear. It comes off the incredible momentum of the Sanders campaign and the greater hunger for people in our country for change.”
