(2,120 posts)I say that as a guy that spent years working in SCIFs and running one for a time.
There are lots of rules and procedures, but I never had to sign in to any of the dozen or so I visited. Maybe had to sign in elsewhere during the visit, but not to go into the SCIF.

(52,118 posts)had to sign out to use the damn bathroom, they didn't want a bathroom inside the secure facility because that would require security clearances for the custodial staff.
never worked in a scif specifically, but afaik they all have access control systems that track entry/exit. that said it may be possible to get multiple people in on a single authorized entry. you'd need a human to monitor for this, i doubt all scifs have that at all times.

(2,120 posts)the SCIFs were inside another secure facility (ex. CINCPAC Theater Intel HQ) and there were protocols for either special IDs or Passes to get in the building in the first place for regular employees, and there was a sign in for visitors and their escorts to enter the building. But the SCIF itself was always another layer deep.
I don't know the SCIF location on the White House Grounds anymore. I suspect it would be in the old exec office building, but don't know for sure.
