Trump: Election Interference Had Nothing To Do With Us

Hacking of the Democratic National Committee’s computers and Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s email during the 2016 presidential campaign “had nothing to do with us,” President Donald Trump told John Dickerson on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday.

“Had nothing to do with this, and everyone knows it,” the president added.

But that’s not what intelligence information has shown. The U.S. intelligence community has argued, both publicly and via anonymous leaks in the press, that Russia interfered in the election in an effort to help Trump win. But Trump refuses to accept that, too. “I’ll go along with Russia,” Trump told Dickerson immediately before speculating that the hacking also “could’ve been China, could’ve been a lot of different groups.”

Seriously?? Now, it's China's fault. Wow, dude is delusional.

3. The article goes on to "interpret" Trump's words. This is not good methodology. One analyzes EXACTLY

what the speaker says, no more, no less, to understand his lies and obfuscations.

In this case, Trump uses the general pronoun "this" without explicit antecedent; he refers to a vague "us" to disperse personal guilty knowledge; and he deliberately uses confusing sentence structures.

As to the last: If the subject is the "hacking," Trump replied, "had nothing to do with us."

What, then, does the following "Had nothing to do with this" mean? No subject, no reference for "this."

"Everyone knows it." Trump cannot know what "everyone knows," and again, he uses a pronoun ("it&quot without clear antecedent.

All of the above is to say: Don't try to figure out "what Trump means."

It's "how" and "why." The "how" is to speak in meaningless vagueness with "this," "it," and "could've been."

The "why" is to lie to your face and get away with it.

..vague intentions.

4. At first there was nothing at all and now there's a "this".

So they're admitting that something happened but they had nothing to do with it.

That's a step in the right direction.
