well I foolishly got worked up this morning

by idiots claiming that climate change is a hoax, because God controls the weather - not man. Lordy, lordy - there's really not much we can do with these people. They obviously feel deeply emotionally offended by any suggestion that their religious beliefs might be in error. Scientific fact is perceived as an insulting assault on deeply held beliefs and their identity as "good fundamentalist Christians." Talking science to them goes in one ear and out the other. The geologic record of climate change over the eons means nothing to them. The current data of temperatures around the globe means nothing. I'm sorry, but such profound ignorance and lack of curiosity disturbs me. I need to calm down.

I had a friend in AA once who said about the need for a sponsor that, "I don't need a sponsor because I'm a Christian and can talk directly to God. Since you are not Christians you can't talk directly to God, so you need to have a sponsor and talk to him."

The first time I heard him say this I thought he was joking, but it turned out he was entirely serious. When I asked if he considered that there might be a little bit of arrogance in that position, he did not know what I was talking about.

They think they can trash the planet and then pray to be removed leaving the non faithful in the ruins they created as they fly to the heavens.
Wish anyone who does, would stop praying to the rain Gods around here.... We have enough now !

something like didn't God charge humans with being good stewards of the earth? To take good care of it and respect his creation?
