It's not too hard to understand why Donald Trump has such a boner for Andrew Jackson. The two men do share some notable similarities. For example:
1. Both have frequently viewed other people as objects as opposed to human beings.
2. Both seem to have relished the thought of deporting non-white people (in Jackson's case, from their own ancestral land) no matter how disastrous or inhumane the process
3. Both have demonstrated little regard for the courts or other branches of government
4. Both have demonstrated an enjoyment of gaudy, elaborate residences with pretentious names
5. Both have been completely unapologetic for their wild, unruly hair
Of course, there are some major differences, too:
1. The two men have had very different pre-Presidential backgrounds. For all of his notable character defects (including once shooting a man to death in a duel), Jackson had a legacy as a skilled battlefield general whose victories include such engagements as the Battle of New Orleans. On the other hand, Donald Trump once bankrupted a casino that looked liked the Taj Mahal.
2. While both have fashioned themselves as populists, unlike Trump, Jackson had the luxury of actually winning the popular vote, which is somewhat essential to being a successful populist.
3. As far as we know, there are no rumors about Andrew Jackson having paid Russian hookers to urinate on his bed. As far as we know.

(37,428 posts)Someone told Trump that a president is supposed to have a favorite previous president on which to model his Administration. Trump just copied Bannon's, and didnt even bother to memorize a few facts about Jackson.

In other news, despite rumors to the contrary, Steve Bannon is not politically dead yet.
