Trump's Strongman Fetish Is Very Dangerous

Our orange-haired White House occupant has a strange and disturbing affinity for dictatorial national leaders around the world. In his addled brain, he apparently sees himself as some kind of strongman type.

The risk here, I think, is that he might take some sort of excessive military action that puts us at a high risk of involvement in yet another idiotic war.

His apparent psychological deficits, which may be the result of the onset of Alzheimer's disease or some other brain disorder, may make him even more likely to do something incredibly stupid.

That is finally being recognized by some in the media. I hope it leads to resistance by his cabinet and others to his penchant for doing stupid things.

which lets Presidents start something without any congressional oversight for a period of time. That's where the real risk lies. A President can order the military into action anywhere in the world without even consulting Congress. Presidents have a free hand for a substantial period of time, 60 days, before they need congressional approval. Congress must be notified within 48 hours after an action has taken place, but no pre-authorization is needed. This has been done a number of times by Presidents.

Trump could, for example, order a preemptive attack on North Korea at any time on the least provocation. There is a serious chance that he might do just that.

They may let trump slaughter babies but the baby killing and the huge collateral damage (civies, moms, kids killed) from those aggressive 'war' actions is 'known risk' by Republicans.

70 year old malignant narcissist who might be sliding into senility and who is a wannabe dictator.

You see his fascist authoritarian leanings not just in his fetish for other dictators but in his paranoia, scapegoating, racism, militarism, centralizing power by gutting fed agencies, nepotism and cronyism, his attacks on the media and the courts......and now on the Congress. All of these things just obstacles to making over the country in his addled vision.

What could go wrong?

But are we better off with him as the president than with pence, who is appalling but with all of his faculties and do potentially more damaging?

As such, he has a clearer view of the need to appeal to constituents. He's a terrible politician, with awful ideas, but still is not certifiably mentally deranged.

I cannot personally imagine ever supporting someone like him, but he would be less likely to act irrationally on an international basis than Trump.

I want a Democrat in the White House and Democrats in the majority in both houses of Congress. That's my goal, but for right now, I'll settle for kicking Trump out of the White House.
