(17,984 posts)When I want to hide in the Oval Office, I usually hide behind the drapes. Sometimes Steve Bannon is hiding there already, so I have to hide under the desk. One time we pulled some chairs together, threw a sheet over them, and made a tent. We hid in the tent for an hour. I believe that was the day Merkel came to visit.

(63,221 posts)I was just creating a visual in my mind as I was reading your post and it cracked me up. Because I could really see them acting like this. Can't you just see Trump hiding behind the curtain with his shoes sticking out beneath?

(11,101 posts)It just struck me that Chauncey would have responded to an allegory like "The Oval Office has no corners to hide in" in the same literal way as simpleton Trump.

That idiot talked to us like we were all 5 year olds. Drove me crazy.
Typically it was things like, "Freedom means you want to be free."

(23,944 posts)sure, tautologies and malapropisms everywhere, but at least there was something twitching behind W's beady eyes
Trump wears his uncaring ignorance on his sleeve like a badge of honor, and his supporters love him for it

(23,944 posts)thought experiment: what would we get if Trump tried W's sentence?
W: "Sovereignty means that . . . you . . you're sovereign!"
Trump: "Sovereignty means that... really great things...<incomprehensible>... I won by the hugest margins ever."

(3,447 posts)...George W. Bush didn't understand most of George W. Bush's metaphors. "Y-you must put food on your family!"
Scarsdale
(9,426 posts)and sounds really ignorant. The best part is that he belongs to the gop, they wanted him, and they (and their Russian buddies) made this disaster happen. They had better pray for a democratic president (if the world survives the Orange Disaster) who will help clean up the mess he will leave behind. If he has a complete meltdown in the WH, will the men in the white suits come for him, or will THAT be covered up too?

(12,022 posts)W. may have misspoken and used malapropisms, but at least he had the intellectual capacity to understand a metaphor.

with a GWB quote of all things ....

(35,658 posts)I thought he showed real professionalism. Trump insulted the program to his face. How tactless, yet Dickerson maintained an even tone of voice and did not reveal in any way that Trump's childish name-calling bothered him in the least. I was very impressed.

(10,012 posts)Certainly those closest to him have known about it for some time, especially Ivanka. Letting him continue in the role as President is dangerous and frightening.

(35,658 posts)after I listened to an interview with the ghostwriter who wrote The Art of the Deal. The interview is at NPR and you could probably turn it up easily enough by searching the book title at their site. This writer said that Trump has a very limited attention span. He has no mental discipline, such as the patience or attention skills to listen to other people.
He probably does not even have the attention span to know what is actually in the healthcare bill. He doesn't read anything that's longer than a page, and everything has to be put in bullet points. No more than one page.
That is why he makes so many errors when he speaks about what is actually in his health care plan.
He is a stupid man with little mental discipline, easily manipulated by those around him.

(108,977 posts)He thinks Bush meant that if someone's shooting at you, there's no corner to hide in.
But that's okay, because there's no one outside the windows to worry about.
I wonder if that's something he obsesses about.
