GOP bill hung up on how many people to kick off health care roles.

Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) on Tuesday became the latest House Republican to come out against the ObamaCare repeal-and-replace bill, underlining how the legislation is losing support from lawmakers who fear it could hurt people with pre-existing health conditions.

Some lawmakers expressed doubts that the healthcare bill would come up for a vote this week despite a push from House leaders to get it to the floor before a one-week recess.

“I guess all things are possible, but at least right now I don't see that happening,” said Rep. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.), who said there are too many “no” votes piling up.

The opposition from Upton, a former chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, was significant. He is widely respected on the issue, having written healthcare legislation in the past, and described the changes to the bill as a bridge too far.

"I’ve supported the practice of not allowing pre-existing illnesses to be discriminated against from the very get-go," Upton said. "This amendment torpedoes that, and I told leadership I cannot support this bill with this provision in it."

The revised bill would allow states to waive certain ObamaCare protections that now prevent insurers from charging people more based on their health.

Your bill is not going to pass. Get it through your head. I know you're an insecure little baby who can't stand to lose, but our health care should not be a victim of your overly sensitive ego. You're either going to have to come up with a replacement bill that doesn't fuck millions of people over, (and we all know that will never happen),or you need to give it up and move on.

that gets any play, any press.

Like for many complex issues, the GOP likes to choose one aspect and make the whole discussion about that one thing...then they deceive, muddy, and confuse the public about that one topic until no one knows for certain what the hell is going on really.

Same here. There are lots and lots of unanswered questions about other aspects of AHCA but everyone now thinks as long as they SAY they guarantee coverage for preexisting conditions, AHCA#3 is golden and their malevolent, mis-guided effort to change ACA will be a miraculous success for Trump and the GOP.

People will be convinced AHCA and the GOP are looking out for them...again without any real reason.

Some Republicans want thousands of Americans to die, other Republicans think that hundreds of thousands of Americans should die. They're literally debating about how many people they should kill, not a one of them is saying, "hey, Obamacare doesn't help enough people, we need to replace it with something that will cover more people. Health care coverage is life or death for millions."
