OMIGOD Feinstein just dropped the ball.

Comey retreated behind a defense that he could not in good conscience or practice CONCEAL the matter of an investigation into Anthony Weiner's computer containing emails from Hillary Clinton.

The legitimate, logical response question would have been "then why didn't you apply the same standard to the Trump Russia investigation?" Feinstein failed to ask that, and it appears now that this hearing is moving forward without an answer.

Dayum, I can only hope it's strategic. Otherwise, what the actual fuck?

Announcing a Trump investigation would inform those being investigated that something was happening.

you can't blame Comey if an aide to Hillary Clinton forwards classified emails to an ex-Congressman whose laptop is then being examined for his escapades with an underage girl and those emails are then discovered and then have to be examined.

by operatives and Comey announced a new investigation before the FBI even looked at them to verify that they were new.

They were not new so yes, you can blame Comey for announcing a re-opening of the investigation without even looking at them.

Research the "new emails" story and find out for yourself.

And a question: Why are you defending Comey, the guy who swung the election to trump?

This is what he said...

“Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information,” Comey said, adding later, “His then-spouse Huma Abedin appears to have had a regular practice of forwarding emails to him for him to print out for her so she could deliver them to the secretary of state.”

That is not "planted on Weiner's laptop by operatives".

I don't blame Comey because all of these things were self-inflicted wounds. Huma should not have been forwarding those emails under any circumstances. I don't need to even state what Anthony Weiner shouldn't have been doing. Put those together and you have a problem for Hillary that involves the FBI that those two created out of thin air.

Still why defend Comey for coming out publicly with re-opening a "new investigation" of Hillary while not divulging he was also investigating trump?

DU is the last place you expect to keep on hearing, "but what about her emails".

It was and still is a repug talking point not worth sh_t, and was proven not to be worth sh_t with his second letter absolving her which he knew was well timed and too late for Clinton's campaign to salvage the election.

relates to a closed investigation and not inform Congress.

Comey did not say that he was re-opening or that this was a new investigation .

It was Republican spin that said that.

Come on! He's a repug who knew damn well what was going to result from that letter.

Which is why he kept the trump investigation secret.

He wanted a repug in the White House and to his sorry, sorry credit he gave it to the sorriest, sorriest president ever — one colluding with Russians to meddle in our election for God's sake.

He contacted Comey and told him his investigation included emails he (the prosecutor) was sure pertained to Comey's investigation. In particular, the prosecutor was extremely upset about the child trafficking issues he had unearthed. He informed Comey he would be forwarding the emails to him, and it was this batch Comey was referencing when he announced he had acquired new emails.

The prosecutor told Comey he would give him two weeks to start making arrests, and if this did not happen, the prosecutor would call a press conference and make the information known publicly, along with announcing arrests.

Comey had said in his earlier Congressional testimony, that if he received any new information, he would inform Congress. He made this statement under oath and was required by that sworn promise to reveal he had received new emails.

“I join those who believe that the actions taken by the FBI did, in fact, have an impact on the election,” Feinstein said in her opening remarks. “What’s worse is that while all of this was going on in the public spotlight, while the FBI was discussing its investigation into Senator Clinton’s email server in detail, I cannot help but note that it was noticeably silent about the investigation into the Trump campaign and Russian interference into the election.”

but Diane Feinstein isn't exactly a liberal firebrand in the Senate. If she hadn't been trying to get re-elected in California all these years she would probably be a Republican.
