This as of now is just conjecture. Not confirmed.
The Duke of Edinburgh, who is 95, will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The Palace said in a statement it was the Duke's decision taken with the support of the Queen.
It said: "His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision, The Duke has the full support of The Queen.

As an American..... who cares?
He's old. He probably wants to hang out and watch Frankie and Grace on Netflix in the privacy of his own room.

(2,074 posts)But the Queen and Prince Philip have actually been pretty hard-working over the years. It is no joke for such elderly people to constantly have to be doing public events. They may live lives of luxury (although the Queen is said to be very frugal), but they are not slackers, and most people their age would have been retired for years by now.
