Democratic Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.) said he's fielding calls from constituents of his home-state Republican colleague, Rep. John Faso, about the GOP's ObamaCare repeal-and-replace plan:
Sean Patrick Maloney @RepSeanMaloney
Hey @RepJohnFaso could you turn your phones on? Your #NY19 constituents are calling my office. #Trumpcare

Thanks gerrymandering!

(790 posts)I got in to Elise Stefanik R NY 22nd & told the little arrogant prick off after telling me 24 million people wont die. I handed the fucker his ass & he hung up. Poor little snowflake. Now it goes to auto voice mail. All the district offices too. Whats a matter Elise, cant stand the fucking heat?

(2,108 posts)They might have kept the phone line turned on for others to get through ...just sayin'
We want them to hear our message not run for cover ~
Peace.

(51,550 posts)They are not turning their lines off because of disrespectful language. The reps who are turning off their lines would do that whether the calls were "civil" or not. They just don't want to hear what we have to say.

(790 posts)He got snarky to me & I let the little fucker have it with both barrels! Respect is given when one shows it. He was being snotty & deserved every bit of my anger!

(2,108 posts)"Letting the little f$&ker have it" ....he just hangs up and chalks up another 'out of control liberal'...
Think your call moved the needle in our direction or validated their rants about our side?
But I get it, it feels good to verbally tear apart the kid answering the phone ~
I watched a lot of coverage of ranting tea partiers. I found the ranting disqualified their message immediately. I'm just suggesting our side not devolve into letting the delivery method of the message become the story rather than the message itself.
That's all ~
Peace.

(790 posts)When I said 24 million off of health care he mocked me & elevated his voice, thats when I let the fucker have it. I am not going to let some POS. disrespect me! Especially as it directly affects my dear wife with diabetes. She is a human being not a fucking political statistic. I will fight to the death for her.
I hate these fuckers with every fiber of my being. You go hug & talk sweet nothings to these fascist bastards & waste your time. I want to give them the same pain they are inflicting on good people.
They are my enemy, more than Isis, NK, or any foreign entity other than than that little fucker from Russia who helped these bastards.

(2,108 posts)I am one of those 24 million...I am diabetic and I'm an ovarian cancer survivor...I am scared, wide awake and worried that I will soon have no practical access to healthcare ~
I understand the anger, I do. And nowhere did I suggest hugs and sweet talk. I just think acting out on that anger with rants to the guy answering the phone doesn't accomplish anything other than raising your blood pressure and reinforcing a negative about our side to yet another clueless, ill informed conservative.
Politics is about out maneuvering and persuading and rallying and some leading with actual policy positions and many others supporting those positions...and VOTING!
Screaming at some guy on the phone doesn't get it done. It just physically drains a person ~

(790 posts)But till he got snarky & raised his voice dripping with condensation, I was calm & respectful. He was lucky he was not in person to me, acting like that he would be spitting out some teeth.
I am almost 59, retired construction worker & ex toughman competitor & I dont take anyones shit! Especially some little snowflake punk who works for the fuck that is supposed to work for us.

(13,225 posts)I got a recording indicating his office was "closed" for the day at 2:30 p.m.
This was shortly after he made his profoundly idiotic remarks to Jake Tapper about how people who lead "good lives" shouldn't be forced to pay for other people's health problems.
Republicans push a false meme about "personal responsibility" and then can't take personal responsibility for their own stunning stupidity.

(5,043 posts)Busy, no answer and voicemail boxes full.
I did get through Tuesday, fwiw and I just sent the following:
"I strongly oppose the ACHA in its current form and you should as well, as the current bill is worse than the one you said you would not support.
If in today's vote, you chose your chairmanship over your constituents, over me and my children, I will remember in November 2018.
In fact, I will remember when your opponent declares and asks for money, support, and volunteers. I will make sure my friends and neighbors remember, too.
I have pulled the lever for you in the past. But if you vote for the ACHA to pass today, I will understand that you have finally abandoned the good of your district and constituents, that you are putting your political position above the people you are supposed to represent.
And I will remember.
Sadly,"

(5,043 posts)he was a pro-choice, pro-environment, republican. I wanted to encourage such moderates in the GOP and, if I remember right, his opponent in that first election was weak.
Haven't voted for him since, but it allows me to honestly say, when I interact with him now, "I have voted for you in the past", leaving the impression (maybe?) that I am a swayable voter who might vote for him in the future and therefore shouldn't be dismissed as an automatic lost cause who he needn't listen to anyway.
