Everyone who is alive will need healthcare at various points in their life. So, simply being alive is a guaranteed that there will be healthcare costs. Perhaps health insurance companies should decide to issue policies only after an individual dies.

Basically, everyone gets to be in the "high risk" pools. I'm betting being born is probably a pre-existing condition.

(146,255 posts)we're all pawns to the insurance companies. What we need is universal, tax-funded, single-payer healthcare that kicks in at conception. That's what we need.
We need a government that actually has the best interests of all of its citizens as its highest priority. We do not have such a government. I suggest we elect one like that at every level, from City Hall to Congress. Until we do, we get what others offer, and no more.
