them--especially knowing it can't be discussed 24 hours prior to the election.

I hope this bodes well for Macron becoming the innovative and effective leader France needs, because LePen will be waiting him out for the next election. That is what really worries me.

7. The hack was before the release. Why the release came so late isn't entirely clear yet.

But hacked material was apparently in the hands of the hackers for several weeks. The hack attack has been ongoing for at least three weeks if not longer.

12. Not very long but here's the main part on what they did.

"Meanwhile, Wikileaks jumped on the document dump, but didn’t seem to be familiar with the material in it. Responding to the Macron statement that some of the items were bogus, Wikileaks tweeted, “We have not yet discovered fakes in #MacronLeaks & we are very skeptical that the Macron campaign is faster than us.”

Ah, but there’s the rub. As reported by The Daily Beast, part of the Macron campaign strategy against Fancy Bear (also known as Pawn Storm and Apt28) was to sign on to the phishing pages and plant bogus information.

“You can flood these [phishing] addresses with multiple passwords and log-ins, true ones, false ones, so the people behind them use up a lot of time trying to figure them out,” Mounir Mahjoubi, the head of Macron’s digital team, told The Daily Beast for its earlier article on this subject."

I scrolled down so fast I didn't realize there was more than one article at the link.

Thanks! Sounds like Macron gave us the best political hack-back that we can use easily. No law about filling your own mailbox with bogus mail.

Fortunately, it sounds like this hack failed to achieve its purpose, but I stand by the fact that the French have more history lessons to remind them what happens when you or the neighboring country ends up with a fast talking fascist leader.

9. Trumpsters blaming the Russians?
Sun May 7, 2017, 10:51 AM
May 2017

Is this also false information planted in the leak to point guilt at someone not guilty. It is difficult to believe the Russian NSA would leave this evidence trail to one of their operatives in plain sight. The use of Russian Excel does not mean that the Russian government did this.

Why would Wikileaks want to implicate the Russians when Wikileaks now is the Russian? This stinks of Republicans and, in particular, alt-right Trumpsters.

11. Wikileaks isn't pro-Trump or pro-Russia per se. They are merely useful idiots.

Do you know how RT operates? They tell you exactly half the story: The half they need to push their narrative. The other half of the story gets ignored or denounced as fake news.

And that's exactly how Russia uses Wikileaks. Wikileaks mainly leaks from the US and Europe because of the language-barrier. But that means that effectively Wikileaks is spreading shit-tons of bad stuff about the US and Europe and virtually no bad stuff from e.g. Russia or China.

->
Wikileaks is painting a skewed picture of the world.
Wikileaks inadvertently only delivers you half the story.
And that makes them useful idiots to Russia.

that she should simply send over a cache of emails with a bunch of embedded fake emails. She could have claimed almost anything - including CTs, dirt on repubs, nutty accusations, and even pictures!

If they were hacked or public because of FOIA or because of an "investigation", then she simply says that there was a bunch of stuff there and if they wanted to know what was real, then let her lawyers and staff filter them.
