We willingly leave this digital footprint as we go through our day craving the convienence of a connected lifestyle. The article should come as no surprise to anyone. Ever google a product or service and then notice ads and offers show up in your browzer or email? Thats your digital footprint in action.

We either understand the risks of this new reality or decide to wind our lives back to the unconnected 1980's

Britain has a seat at the UN Security Council!
Britain has nuclear weapons!
Britain will be an independent country again once it leaves the EU!
Free from the restraints of the EU, Britain will be a major geopolitical power!

That's the delusion they are operating under.

The british government suffers from the same delusion as Russia: They haven't realized that the world has changed.
* Russia demands the same deference as if it still had the geopolitical importance of the Soviet Union. And if you don't cater to their self-deception, you are waging a secret war against Russia.
* Britain thinks it can undo all the economic treaties with the EU and walk away richer. It thinks it can leave a geopolitical alliance and walk away stronger. Britain will demand the same deference that it was used to. And then it will all be shocked when it won't get that preferential treatment.
