On eve of fired Justice official's testimony, Trump tweets about Russia probe

..... Trump’s early-morning tweet did not mention former Deputy Attorney General Sally Q. Yates by name or refer to her scheduled testimony on Monday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

But as he has done repeatedly amid ongoing congressional and FBI probes of potential collusion between his campaign and Russia, Trump insisted that investigative attention, and media reports, were misdirected. ...........

Still a pity it didn't happen in March, but the House of Hacks has just got to be the House of Hacks. So much for last week's House of Hacks festivities. I thought all the hoopla kind of odd to begin with. Isn't this like the 457th time the House of Hacks has voted to repeal the ACA? Only difference from the other 456 times is they actually scribbled out some kind of unworkable replacement. And it looks like this repeal (+ replace...sort of) will end the same way as all the other repeals.....DOA in the Senate.

dolt 45 finally got some good news I guess. But it's really meaningless, since the Senate doesn't appear to be even modifying AHCA, but starting from whole cloth on their own replacement. And I seriously doubt the Senate bill will have a chance in hell of passing the House. So the repeal /replace fight will drag on and on and on.

Congress will damn well get something out b4 the elections. Then, if it winds up in the courts, do we really expect serious precedent or fairness out of this SCOTUS?
Remember Bush v Gore, when the Sup Crt said, this case decision will not set a precedent...huh? what??? Didn't we learn it was impossible for the Supremes to do that? The court didn't have jurisdiction anyway, at that point. Basically, they will do whatever the fuck they want and either say, we are strict constructionists, or we are not setting a precedent.

I wonder where we would be now if Putin, Comey, etc., had thrown the election to Hillary and DT had won the popular vote? DT had already prepared the way by saying it is rigged. They would have challenged it on every front, legit or not. The walls would be burning.
Hillary would not be packing the courts for the next 40 years. The EC would be done with, which would actually be a good thing.

I'm proud of our Dem base for rising up, but we should always be mindful that the Repubs cheat, lie, kill, theaten, almost as bad as Putin to achieve their ends. We are dealing w folks who do not play a fair game, and yet we do. My point is we need a perpetual strong defensive sector in the party. They are plotting to undermine Yates now. They are plotting for Flynn to be the scapegoat for all of their treason. They aren't looking at the truth. They are more like mystery writers, how can we explain this and twist the plot to make the Dems look bad.

Senators Looking Ahead to Sally Yates Testimony on Russia and Flynn

Revelations earlier this year that former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn was not telling the truth about his conversations with a Russian ambassador were concerning, Republican Senator Roy Blunt, a member of the Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence, acknowledged Sunday.

"What was particularly wrong was General Flynn not being truthful about the substance of what he said and the campaign was apparently, or the transition rather, was apparently concerned about that early on, and it appears they should have been," Blunt said in an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press" when asked about indications that the Trump transition itself was warned about Flynn's connections to Russia and conversations he had with the ambassador.

VIDEO: Sen. Blunt on Gen. Flynn: His Untruthfulness Was 'Wrong' 2:10

This Monday, Sally Yates, a former deputy attorney general under President Obama who was then pushed out by Trump early on, will testify in front of a Senate Judiciary subcommittee about Russia's attempts to interfere with the last election, and she is expected to speak about what she knew of conversations between Flynn and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Yates was fired in January, ostensibly for refusing to defend the administration's travel ban in court.

That Senate subcommittee is one of a number of investigations within Congress looking into Russian attempts to interfere in the 2016 elections, in addition to inquiries in the Senate and House Intelligence Committees.

Meanwhile, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a member of the Senate's Select Committee on Intelligence, said on "Meet The Press" that Yates "apparently has some information as to who knew what when that she is willing to share. And that would be what she knew about Michael Flynn's connections to Russia and exactly what she knew they were."

"I don't want to, in any way, say that I know what she's going to say because I don't," Feinstein continued. "But there are so many questions here as to who knew what when, what was done with this."

in positions of strength that want her to testify and will be watching closely to see that her life and career will be kept strong. It could take some turns but neither Trump and his cronies nor Russia are all powerful. That's my hope anyway. Also, as long as she stays visible to the public and it's clear people know the danger, the powers against her won't dare make a publically incriminating move.
