Do not mess with Democratic women in your hearings. They are smarter than you, more articulate than you and fearless of you. You will always lose. And may I add, we have a whole party of them.

Or are you referring to someone else?

(42,700 posts)No, I don't know we can say for certain that Sally Yates is a Democrat. However, her husband definitely is a Democrat (major contributor to party candidates). While she served in DOJ under both repub and Democratic administrations, her more senior positions came under the Obama administration.
Just because she is a "public servant" doesn't mean she can't be affiliated with or identify as a member of a political party.

(98 posts)Comrade Тяцмр and his minions have been referring to her as a Democrat (sic) operative. I'd rather she be seen as non-partisan and neutral, just abiding by the law. She shouldn't be politicized, nor should Mr. Clapper.

(40,416 posts)The backwards R is a soft vowel "a", not a consonant "r". It is pronounced "ya".
What you use as a "u" is not a vowel, but a consonant. It is pronounced "tse" (with a soft "e" .
And the "P" in Cyrillic is pronounced as a Latin "R".
"Тяцмр" makes no sense whatsoever, if one can read Cyrillic.
Sorry for the pedantry.
Trump in Cyrillic is "Трамп" (close in pronunciation)
Or, maybe "Трyмп" (pronounced TRYUMP, with a long U and a consonant Y.) It tangles the tongue a bit, but that's Russian.
I prefer the former as there is no soft "u" in Cyrillic and "Трамп" sounds more like "Trump" than "tramp" (although who could tell the difference).

(33,982 posts)'be affiliated' implies an external source attributing it to her.
That's not ok, if that's not how she identifies. It may even undermine her professional identity and credibility. Please don't.
Let non-partisan officials, current and former, self-identify please.

(5,954 posts)The fact that you were appointed by a Democrat doesn't mean you're a democrat. Especially the Obama Administration. I think he holds the RECORD for appointing Republicans.
The reverse is not true, though. If a (recent) Republican President appointed you, it's safe to assume you're a hard-core partisan Republican.
In fact, I LIKE that Democratic Presidents are more non-partisan with their appointments. GOP Presidents appointing partisan Republicans is BAD for the country. I just wish Democrats would blow their own horn about being rational, that's all. And the Obama Admin was a perfect example of that.

(5,954 posts)It wouldn't surprise me if she's a Democrat (and probably is NOW, if she wasn't before), but I haven't seen any evidence one way or the other. The fact that she was appointed by a Democrat doesn't make her one. (If it did, we never would have had to put up with that assclown COMEY.)

But it's no surprise while 'conservatives' want to go back to the past. The 1950s was a pretty good time for middle aged white men in suits. Not so much for everybody else.

(5,954 posts)Women who've risen to the top in a man's world are generally not intimidated by middle aged conservative men trying to put them (back) in their place.
I thought you clowns learned your lesson when you hauled Hillary Clinton up in front of Peckerhead Gowdy. Apparently not.

Over 100 people demonstrated against Elise Stefanik R, NY primarily because of her vote to repeal the ACA.
Other issues too, but ...
We braved snow showers, rain, cold and wind.
Lots of people talking about the hearings today. Lots of anger and motivation.

(58,648 posts)Of course, Dems in general tend to elect smarter, more reality based representatives to begin with. That so many are women is just an additional benefit.
