(31,464 posts)...it wasn't worth your time to give us the slightest synopsis what your post was about?
At least there was an actual link this time, I give you credit for going that far.

(146,192 posts)I can see that you're irritated about a Twitter link. But what about the content?
People use the tools provided by DU. Tap the link if the post interests you. That's my advice.

(8,419 posts)You mean when you click on a thread and it doesn't interest you, you just close it and move on?
You can't take the time to post a response regarding how lame you think a thread is, thus moving it back up to the top of the page, thus causing more views?
Of all the nerve!

(31,464 posts)...doesn't necessarily go to the actual link. Then I have to navigate back to DU, without know one damn thing about the original tweet, although I wanted to know.
It's really, really simple; if you feel a tweet is important enough for people to see, give us SOMETHING...a sentence, a paragraph, SOMETHING to let us know that it is as important as you believe it is. I'm not sure why that is too much to ask.

(34,303 posts)I had problems with images and videos and tweets not showing. I went into Settings>Safari>General>Content Blockers and found that Firefox Focus was allowed to block content. I turned this off. I also turned of the Block Pop-Ups in the General settings under Safari. One or both of these made a difference.
I do use Firefox Focus on my phone, and have ad blockers and tracking blockers on my desktop. Thanks for a breath of sanity. WTF is with DU users, anyway? Nice to hear some advice towards a solution instead of people calling me an idiot because their links aren't showing up.

(31,464 posts)I see NOTHING. I see "link to tweet." How the bloody hell am I even supposed to have a clue what anyone else is seeing or what I should be seeing? Post a screen cap! Show me what you get when you have "link to tweet" on your screen. I'd like to know so I can trouble shoot. Point being, again, I have a brand new phone, and I have no problem with ANY of this except for twitter links on DU. Are you telling me that when people post "link to tweet" there is actually content in the DU window, and not just a link to a tweet? If you're an iPhone 7 user, tell me the magic secret and stop saying I'm a douchebag because I only see "link to tweet." Help a brother out!
BTW, I get the exact same thing on my desktop Mac, which is also up to date. How is it just me?

(31,464 posts)No restrictions. All I ever see is "Link to tweet." I'm still not clear if there is supposed to be other content in the screen, because no one has yet answered that question. Is it supposed to be an image, or something like what you get when you post a link in Facebook? Because I see nothing except "Link to tweet." I'm not tech challenged! I'm just tired of reading captivating subject lines, only to find the body text is just "Link to tweet."
BTW, thanks for being the first person to actually be civil, and not call me out for being some computer noob who has never seen a Twitter link.

(31,464 posts)But in DU I only see the "Link to Twitter" underlined in blue. On any browser, on my phone and on my desktop.
At least you've helped clarify. Apparently there is supposed to be an image? A picture of the tweet? Something other than the link? No one else has answered that one, they just call me an idiot because my DU only shows "Link to Twitter" on any browser and any device. I'm such an idiot!

(31,464 posts)When you post a link to a tweet, the DU post will only say "Link to tweet."
That's my point! I'm not saying I can't get the tweet. Most of the time the link will work. Many times there is not even a link, but people are commenting about it.
What I am saying is, I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO LAUNCH TWITTER in order to read your post! Tell me what I'm linking to before I have to leave DU and launch another site! Why is that so difficult?
La Lioness Priyanka
(53,866 posts)Why is that so hard for some people to get?
Fix your own issues or don't, but don't demand things from me to make your life easier. That's not my role here.
Atman
(31,464 posts)What, exactly, did I demand from you? I have no "tech woes." I'm just asking why people can't have the decency to post a synopsis or even one little sentence telling us what we're supposed to be so amazed about/interested in. You took the time to open the tweet and read it, and copy the link. You can't take five more seconds and tell us what your link is about before we click away from DU only to find we don't give a shit about your link?

(17,095 posts)I had pegged him as someone with integrity who had to make some tough decisions. Then it became known that there were simultaneous investigations into Clinton (emails) and Trump (Russian interference) and that Comey only made the former known publicly. That sunk him in my eyes. Now the lies about Huma Abedin are just another nail in the coffin.

But, he cut his teeth as a special prosecutor for the whitewater witch hunts and has Clinton derangement like any other republican.
It was visceral in his editorializing the way he did a year ago when he did his first hit job on her, and is was at the root of his teeing up the POS Chavetz a week before the election in November.

(82,849 posts)We all know how horrible, terrible, no-good, and very bad it is to lie under oath. This would appear to be a rather serious matter.

He cut his teeth as a special prosecutor for the whitewater witchhunts, and VERY clearly had Clinton derangement syndrome like every other repubilcan. (6,143 posts)Comey's quotes from testimony:
...
"appears to have had a regular practice of forwarding emails to him,"
Those are weasel words, he is giving himself an out.
The reason?
Huma's lawyer:
If Huma DIDN'T ACTUALLY FORWARD THEM, then how did they actually get there?
*IF* Russian hackers and/or the Trump campaign had something to do with it, could/would Comey *say so*, out loud in this testimony? OF COURSE NOT.
He couldn't even fall back on "this is classified information pertaining to an ongoing investigation" because this whole Weiner/laptop/email "thing" is supposed to be over & done with, case closed, move along.
So he said what he said, with weasel words in force.
oh, and just for kicks:
https://patribotics.blog/2017/01/17/dear-mr-putin-lets-play-chess-louise-mensch-trump-russia/
It is my surmise that your hacker, Nikulin, sent a command buried in a virus earlier transmitted by Formspring to wake up that old computer and either find, or place, emails from Huma Abedin on to it, and that you then contacted your moles inside the NYPD/ FBI NY and told them to suddenly find emails that, the expectation was, could not possibly be combed through in time before the election.
yardwork
(61,418 posts)Abedin's emails got dumped onto Weiner's computer when she used his computer to access her email. It was automatic and she didn't know it happened. Weiner didn't know either and couldn't access them unless he went into his wife's email account.
By the way, this is all a lot MORE secure that Donald's iPhone.
yodermon
(6,143 posts)I wished senate panel had followed up on specifics.
Also, do we know this (re email syncing thing) or is it speculative? I'll admit it's more plausible than the emails being planted by Russian hackers, but the timing was just *too* perfect to be coincidental.
yardwork
(61,418 posts)mackdaddy
(1,520 posts)I do not have a current source for this, and the story is so muddled that even Comey does not know what he is talking about.
But I understood that these "new" emails were actually just an automatic backup copy of the emails on Huma's smartphone (a blackberry?). The software on the Laptop would update the backup of the Blackberry every time it was plugged into the laptop to be charged. Huma and her hubby were not even aware that this was being done which is why they did not know about the files. This was discovered during the October surprise Comey week, and why they came back within a few days to say "oops, nothing new here, just copies, carry on" even though the damage was done. The Pro-publica article even says this about the backup files on wiener's computer.
No more than a "hand-full" of emails were directly forwarded to this laptop for physical printing. And none of those forwarded were indicated to be classified from any of these articles.
So Comey's latest testimony is totally wrong and is the most screwed up yet when compared to the actual facts.
