Just checked out the new Nicole Wallace show on MSNBC. How do you spell "insufferable"? One republican on it's panel actually said "why should any 19 year old have to have health insurance? When I was that age all I wanted was a car". No one on the panel said well you'd have to have insurance to have that car wouldn't you? Or who pays to keep you alive when you crash that car? Awful and another show to avoid on that formerly good station.

(40,183 posts)Nicole Wallace is ok as a guest. She doesn't have the charisma to carry a program by herself. She is kind of boring.

It's nice they had the luxury of good health at 19. My daughter lost that just before er 4th birthday (although she wasn't diagnosed for a full year).

(115,576 posts)The incidences of chronic or life-threatening diseases are higher with older people, of course; but that doesn't mean young people don't get them. Sometimes they are born with serious chronic and disabling conditions. And guess which age group has the most car accidents? Why do you suppose car insurance is so much more expensive for people under 25? They are more likely to have other accidents, too. It's not that unusual to come across a fund-raiser for some kid who got paralyzed in a diving accident or playing some sport. So, yeah, 19-year-olds need health insurance. That's also one reason why it was such a BFD that under the ACA young people could stay on their parents' policies until they turned 26.
There really is no fixing stupid, is there?
