(16,104 posts)Comey gave Trump the election!
He talked shit about Hillary for a year now - and tells us he can't say a word about Trump!
Tom Brokaw nailed it - Comey is a very, very bad man. We got some justice tonight!
And if you all will read Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein's memo, you will see is citing EXACTLY what WE have been saying for a year now!
Sessions signed off on the memo, Trump signed off on Session's letter - and that sick shit Comey is outed as the piece of shit he is!

(16,104 posts)had to see a letter from the FBI go out correcting "misstatements" the FBI Director Comey made under oath - about emails and Huma Abedin!
At some point, reasonable people have to acknowledge this clown Comey has no credibility!
If he came out and said, "No evidence of Trump collusion - case closed," who the hell would believe him?
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)That strains credulity.

(16,104 posts)Sessions recommended firing Comey because Deputy AG Rosenstein laid out a compelling case - almost irreversible damage to the credibility and standing of the FBI as a public institution.
We have been pointing that out for a year!
It doesn't change for me because Trump obliviously fell into it! Which seems to happen a lot!

(14,167 posts)He used Rosenstein's personal opinion (along with the opinions of other AGs) as an excuse for the firing because he couldn't find a legitimate one of his own.

(47,209 posts)He did not like the direction Comey was going in and he thinks he can get someone who will close the investigation.

Comey is the one, or only one, who can bring Trump down.

It's all bad, bad, bad! and the world is about to end!
Hey, it works for Republicans! I guess we stole their playbook!

One can believe that James Comey acted improperly in the past and that Donald Trump fired him because he is investigating him and getting close.

(48,988 posts)for a wild ride. He's complicit. Papen was used. I think McCONnell is using tRump as much as tRump is using him.

(50,934 posts)the head of the agency that is investigating the president. The president did this fifteen minutes before that agency was to hand down subpoenas that were likely to implicated the President in the worst crime against the American government in our generation.
The point is that the president is acting in a way that indicates he is intending to proceed as if he is not accountable to anyone. In a way that is forbidden for the president to act.
This is a lot bigger than the politics of the moment.

(12,607 posts)to steal personal data had no widespread implications. Colluding with Russia to steal an election does.
But - it's not an existential threat to the U.S.. We have many strong institutions. France easily overcame the Russian interference once it was out in the open, and tRump is the product - I'm now convinced - of the last hurrah of the backlash from the huge social changes since the 60's. Time and the actuarial tables will take care of the worst of it.
