The way Comey learned of his firing wasn’t the result of ineptitude or clumsiness on the part of the White House. Delivering the letter an hour after Comey had seen the news on a television in a room full of people at an FBI field office — that’s just the standard juvenile petulance that has come to be associated with Trump.
